Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass Process Changing AGAIN

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

It is changing once again – the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass process will be seeing an update beginning on December 20. Here is what you need to know moving forward.

Guests will still have two opportunities to potentially obtain a virtual queue boarding pass for the extremely popular Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction. Ever since November, Guests have been able to potentially get a boarding pass beginning at 7:00 a.m., without having to actually be in the park. More details about how that process works can be found here.

The change to the virtual queue process will take place beginning Sunday, December 20. That’s because the second potential boarding pass drop will now occur at 1:00 p.m. (Which is a change from the previous 2:00 p.m. time.) To access the 1:00 p.m. virtual queue opportunity, Guests must have valid park admission, a Disney Park Pass Reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and be inside the park. Access to a boarding group is subject to availability and not guaranteed.

So what will happen when Park Hopping returns beginning on January 1, 2021? You’ll be able to potentially join the later 1:00 p.m. virtual queue window, right? Unfortunately, that is not the case. Guests visiting from another theme park will not be able to join the virtual queue. (Details about the return of Park Hopping can be found here.)

Tips for Obtaining a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass

We do have some helpful tips for those looking to obtain a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance to keep in mind.

  • Make sure you’ve got a My Disney Experience account and have the most up to date version of the My Disney Experience app downloaded on your phone prior to arrival.
  • Make sure you have a valid Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the day you’re visiting.
  • Link all park tickets for those members who are in your party to your My Disney Experience account.
  • Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue for everyone in your group; if multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may complicate your ability to secure a boarding group.

This is clearly an ever changing process. We will be sure to keep you updated as we learn more details about what to expect about riding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
