During the D23 Expo, we were able to get a first glimpse of what the Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway attraction will look like at Disneyland, as well as some great new concept art of what the attraction will look like at Walt Disney World!
At Disneyland, the attraction will be opening in Mickey’s Toontown. Here, Guests will head into the El CapiTOON Theater, where Mickey and Minnie are premiering their newest short, “Perfect Picnic.”Guests will see a special exhibit in the queue created by the Toontown Hysterical Society that will feature costumes and props from the toon world.
The attraction will officially open at Disneyland in 2022.
Moving over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will invite Guests to the Chinese Theatre. The theatre will serve as a magic portal, where theatergoers will step from the human world directly into the cartoon world. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open in the spring of 2020 at Walt Disney World.
For those who don’t know about the attraction, Guests will be put into the world of one of the new Mickey Mouse shorts. You’ll then board a train with Goofy as the engineer who will take you on an out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will include an original story, state-of-the-art technologies, dazzling visual effects, and lovable theme song all with a goal to transform the cartoon world into a multidimensional experience.
