If you’re visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this summer, then you’re going to be excited to learn that a number of table service restaurants (that involve characters!) will be reopening!
First, starting May 16, Chef Mickey’s, which is currently offering only breakfast, will once again offer dinner! The menu will be an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style dinner. And yes, Mickey and gang will be present! You’ll be able to snap a selfie or wave hello from a distance.
As far as the menu is concerned, Guests will start with “Chef Mickey’s Caesar,” citrus-poached shrimp salad, and assorted breads. For your main course, you can choose from gnocchi, roasted garlic potato Gratin, plant-based faro wheat fried rice, prime rib, roasted turkey, and salmon. Dessert will include a vast assortment of options too!. For those with youngins there will be mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, turkey corn dog nuggets, and more!
Looking for more character dining experiences? Cape May CafĂ© at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will be reopening on May 18! But keep in mind that it won’t be the same experience, since before Cape May was a buffet. The restaurant will still serve breakfast and dinner, but Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet will not return at reopening.
For breakfast, Guests will be able to enjoy an all-you-care-to enjoy family-style menu that will feature pastries (including the layered crispy, cream-filled “Lobster Tail”), omelets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waffles. Dinner will include house-made Parker House rolls and corn bread, a seafood boil with a variety of fresh seafood, The Turf Platter with steak and chicken, and lobster mac and cheese.
If you would like to have dinner at Chef Mickey’s or dine at Cape May Café, reservations open on May 7.
But that’s not the last of the character dining fun! That’s because later this summer, another character dining experience will return. Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will reopen with a modified character experience. You can also take photos of Donald Duck and friends. They will be dressed in their safari best as they promenade through the restaurant. Plus, Guests will also still be able to enjoy family-style entrees inspired by the flavors of Africa. Menu details and reservation information will be shared soon.
However, with all that’s being added, there’s also a big change that you should be aware of. The Wave…of American Flavors & The Wave Lounge at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be unavailable this summer as this space is refurbished. (What?! Nooo!!! You all know how much I love The Wave’s menu options for both breakfast and dinner….I am a sad Rikki right now.) Reservations will be available through July 15, 2021.
Stay tuned for more restaurant changes as the resort reopens more dining options later this year.
