Face Coverings Optional for Guests in All Outdoor Spaces at Walt Disney World

There has been another big change to the face covering at the Walt Disney World Resort. That’s because beginning Thursday, August 19, face masks will also be optional for Guests in outdoor attractions, outdoor queues and outdoor theaters at the Walt Disney World Resort. This means that Guests will not need to wear masks while waiting in line or riding things like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Face masks are still required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while inside any indoor spaces. Also, regardless of vaccination status, face masks are also still required on Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner. This rule was recently reenacted due to Centers for Disease Control suggestions and rising COVID cases in the area. More information about the updated rule can be found here.

We’ll make sure to share any updates to face covering policy as it changes.
