One of the most popular questions I get asked on a weekly basis is “Is Disney going to offer the Disney After Hours event for my dates?” (Insert dates here.) My answer to this popular questions is that with things like the Disney After Hours hard ticketed event, they are very slow to release dates, frequently only releasing them just a few months before most people’s scheduled trip. For example, today, Disney only just released the dates for the late spring/early summer Disney After Hours events.
The dates for May and June are as follows:
- Magic Kingdom: May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: May 7, 14 and 21; and June 4, 11 and 18
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: May 1, 4, 10, 17, 24 and 31; and June 14, 21 and 28
In addition, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, two of the above dates will offer unique a Disney After Hours event nights that will be themed. On May 1, Guests will be able to celebrate Disney’s Hollywood Studios 30th anniversary with special anniversary merchandise, additional character greetings and more food & beverage offerings to purchase.
Then, on May 4, celebrate Star Wars Day dressed in your best galactic Star Wars attire Prepare yourself for Epic Character Encounters including Chewbacca with Rey, Darth Vadar, Kylo Ren with Captain Phasma, Ewoks, Jawas and imperial stormtroopers. Plus, there will be specialty treats available for purchase.
What is Disney After Hours? It’s a special hard ticketed event that occurs after park closing and lasts for three hours at the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The event allows Guests to be able to ride attractions with minimal to no wait, as well as enjoy delicious (and all you care to enjoy) snacks like popcorn, ice cream novelties, and bottled beverages. Find out more about the event here.
Disney After Hours event tickets cost $125, plus tax for advance purchase and $129, plus tax for day-of purchases. Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders do receive a discounted price of $95, plus tax.
So, now I know the next question….when will Disney announce the dates for the rest of the summer or early fall. Well, like I said, there’s no real set time table, but expect it to happen about two months or so prior to your trip dates. (Again, this is conjecture based on what I’ve seen in the past.)
