Beginning June 8, there will be a major change to Disney Genie+ at the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests will only be able to purchase this option ON the day of their visit. If you want to purchase it, you’ll need to do so through the My Disney Experience app. Previously, Guests could purchase this option prior to arrival as a ticket add-on.
This means that, moving forward, whether Guests have an Annual Pass, multi- or single-day ticket, they will now purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of their visit. They will also only be able to purchase this option one day at a time. The ability to purchase will be subject to availability.
Disney touts that Guests who do purchase Disney Genie+ have the opportunity, on average, to be able to use the Lightning Lane on 2-3 attractions per day. This is if they make their first selection early in the day.
Disney says that this change was done to help to deliver the best possible guest experience. This adjustment will help manage the incredibly strong demand for the service.
If Guests have already purchased Disney Genie+ for dates later in 2022, you’ll still be able to use it during your trip.
Keep in mind this update is only happening at the Walt Disney World Resort. It will not affect the Disneyland Resort.
