Car Masters Weekend Downtown Disney

Due to construction at Downtown Disney, this event has been canceled for 2015. Whether it will return in 2016 has yet to be determined.  The 2014 information is below and will be updated if and when this information is available for 2016.

Attention all “Cars” fans! The gang from Radiator Springs is head to Downtown Disney for a fun, family-friendly event that celebrates everything Cars. There will be meet and greets with characters for Disney’s film Cars 2, and so much more. Car lovers will delight in a weekend devoted to all things cars, with activities each day at Downtown Disney West Side.

Car Masters Weekend is the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day as Downtown Disney West Side hosts a classic car show with a modern twist. The event showcases more than 100 classic, muscle and exotic cars; a chance for guests to meet Cars 2 stars Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile; and there are usually special appearances by automotive designer Chip Foose and Disney-Pixar Cars filmmaker Jay Ward. Completing the car-nucopia of events, fans may purchase tickets for a Cars& Cars 2 movie marathon at AMC Downtown Disney 24 and enjoy caricatures, themed food and beverage, live entertainment and more.

Admission and parking at Downtown Disney Disney are free.

Car Masters Weekend Highlights

Auto Personality Appearances: Automotive Legend (and fan favorite!) Chip Foose will be returning to the event; he’s scheduled to make celebrity appearances and will take the stage to share his passion for cars. Plus, Pixar filmmaker Jay Ward will take part in fun Q & A sessions.

Downtown Disney Car Show: Lock your eyes on classic and exotic cars—pick your favorites and see which ones win awards.

Disney Character Meet ‘n’ Greet: Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissle will be available for photo ops.

Movie Marathon: AMC Downtown Disney 24 will be hosting a Cars movie marathon.

Interactive Family Activities: New this year, to celebrate the release of Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue, a real fire truck will be on display. And rumor has it that little ones can even try on a few pieces of an authentic firefighter outfit. Plus, expect interactive activities from Disney Interactive, DisneyQuest Animators and more.

Event Expo: Guests can also be part of the Chevrolet Performance Mobile Tour, take a seat inside some of the latest “Test Track” vehicles, and get up close to real-life supercars and new Piston Cup Racers Aiken Axler & Save VanDerSpin from Richard Petty, all at the new Event Expo.

Car Masters Merchandise: Chip Foose has created some brand-new merchandise, available for sale throughout the weekend. Chip will be meeting with guests each day at D-Street from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., signing prints of his take on this year’s Car Masters Weekend artwork. Guests will receive a wristband upon purchasing the artwork which will allow them to meet Chip and have their artwork signed. The queue for guests with wristbands will start at 10:00 am in front of D-Street. Plus, a variety of new Car Master Weekend logo items, including a print, a shirt, a car magnet, a car flag and a D-Tech on Demand case for the iPhone 5/5S, will be released at D-Street and at the Disney Truck Shop located in the event expo area at Downtown Disney West Side.

Car Masters Weekend Schedule

Car Masters Weekend will take place from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day on June 14th and 15th, 2014.

Cars Movies at the AMC Theater:

Tickets for Disney·Pixar’s “Cars” Movie Marathon can be purchase at the Box Office for the following showings:

  • Disney·Pixar’s “Cars” – Saturday & Sunday at 10:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.
  • Disney·Pixar’s “Cars 2” – Saturday & Sunday at 12:30 p.m. & 5:30 p.m.

Car Show:

Over 100 Classic, Muscle and Exotic vehicles from across the country will be on display throughout Downtown Disney West Side Promenade.

  • Voting – Vote for your favorites at Meguiar’s Exhibit in the Event Expo – Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. & Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Finale and Winners Ceremony – Takes place between Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues – Sunday at 6 p.m.

West Side Event Expo Stage:

  • Chip Foose – The legendary designer provides insight and details about his career in the automotive industry – Saturday & Sunday 9:30 a.m.
  • Rock’n Dune Buggy Chat Show – Presents the history behind the creation of the Meyers Manx dune buggy – Saturday 10:30 a.m.
  • Jay Ward – Creative Director of Disney·Pixar’s “Cars” takes part in a fun Q & A session regarding how he became the “Cars: Legacy Guardian.
  • Duncan Yo-Yo – Performances by professionals and national Yo-Yo champions – Saturday 11:15 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 4:45 p.m.
  • Richard Petty Driving Experience – Learn how you can get behind the wheel at Walt Disney World Speedway – Saturday & Sunday 12:00 p.m.
  • Disney “Planes: Fire & Rescue” Chat Show – Director/Co-Writer Roberts Gannaway and Producer Ferrell Barron chat about their new film – Saturday 1:00 p.m. & 3:45 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. Meet and greet to sign the new “Planes: Fire & Rescue” books starts at 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Meguiar’s Chat Show – Appearance care specialists share tips and tricks for automotive care at home – Saturday & Sunday 2:15 p.m.
  • Chip Foose and Jay Ward – Share their love of automobiles – Saturday 4:15 p.m.
  • Drawing Session with Chip Foose* – Draw along as Chip shares his techniques for car design – Saturday & Sunday 3:00 p.m.

* A limited number of non-transferable wristbands will be available beginning at 2:15 p.m. each day near the Event Expo Stage for children ages 5-12 who wish to participate in the drawing session with Chip Foose. Wristbands are on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Children must be present to receive wristband.

West Side Event Expo:

  • Richard Petty Driving Experience – Learn how to get behind the wheel of some of the real-life supercars on display. Plus, kids are invited to ride along with Piston Cup Racers Aiken Axler and Sage VanDerSpin at Walt Disney World Speedway.
