Whatever your running ability, you won't want to miss the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. This weekend of races are as magical as they are memorable, from Disney's Health & Fitness Expo to running through all four Theme Parks in the Marathon. Complete with medals of Mickey Mouse and his friends, you'd be, well, goofy to miss it!

New for 2015

New Anniversary Goofy Challenge Medal!
For 2015, runDisney has created a new medal in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Goofy Challange. Featuring traditional Goofy colors, this medal has a spinner in the middle. One side celebrates the accomplishment of the half marathon, and when you spin it, Goofy turns upside down and lets you know you added on another 26.2 miles, a grand total of 39.3 miles over two days.

Wednesday, January 7, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Disney's Health and Fitness Expo, which is is a four-day celebration focused on health and fitness, will begin the weekend. The event involves celebrity runner appearances, seminars on training, racing, and nutrition featuring speakers and panelists from the world of running. You'll also have the opportunity to experience the latest in running and fitness equipment. Make sure you stop by the Official Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Merchandise shop at the Expo to purchase your race apparel and other commemorative items. The expo takes place at HP Field House and Jostens Center at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Pasta in the Park Party
Thursday, January 8 – Saturday, January 10, 2015
Buffet Dinner, Special Goofy Themed Celebration 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth 9:00 p.m.
Location: Epcot World ShowPlace Pavilion
Kick off the 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend with the Pasta in the Park Party at Epcot! This event is a great way to relax and be entertained before your big race. The party includes a buffet pasta dinner with self seating, a live DJ and Disney Characters eager to meet you. Following dinner at the World ShowPlace Pavilion, racers and their family will be escorted to Worldview Plaza to watch IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, a mesmerizing fireworks, laser and water show put to music.

Note: Tickets are non refundable and are not interchangeable - date purchased must be date attended. Entry into Epcot before 6:30 p.m. will require a Theme Park ticket.

Disney Family Fun Run 5K
6:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015
Disney Family Fun Run 5K will be held at Epcot. Adults, teens and tweens can experience a 5K course that winds through a Disney Theme Park with an unforgettable finish! Look for Disney entertainment on-course. All ages are welcome to compete. All athletes entering the Half Marathon must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout the entire race.

Disney Kids' Races
Thursday, January 8 – Saturday, January 10, 2015
Kids Dashes: 11:00 a.m. Thu, Fri & Sat
Mickey Mile: 12:30 p.m. Thu, Fri & Sat
Kids can participate in a festival of fun and earn their very own finisher medallion. Disney Kids' Races are divided into age groups and will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Track & Field Complex. Mickey's Mile race is open to all children 13 years old and under.

Race events are open to children in the following age groups:

  • 12 months and under – Diaper Dash for crawlers
  • 1-3 years old – 100m dash
  • 4-6 years old – 200m dash
  • 7-8 years old – 400m dash
  • 13 years and under – Mickey's Mile

Walt Disney World 10K
5:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015
The Walt Disney World 10K will be held at Epcot. This 6.2 mile course is the perfect distance for runners of all skill levels. Winding throughout Epcot and the scenic World Showcase, it is the newest way to be part of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Runners will be awarded the new Minnie finisher medal. To compete you must be 10 years of age or older. All athletes entering the Half Marathon must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout the entire race.

Walt Disney World Half Marathon
5:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015
The Walt Disney World Half Marathon puts runners to the mark for a 13.1 mile course. Taking runners to the Magic Kingdom Park and then to an exhilarating finish in Epcot, this race is perfect if you are a first timer or a veteran. Look for Disney entertainment on-course and in the Family Reunion Area. Runners will be awarded a Donald Duck finisher medal. To compete you must be 14 years of age or older. All athletes entering the Half Marathon must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout the entire race.

Goofy's 'Race and a Half' Challenge
Saturday, January 10 - Sunday, January 11, 2015
2 Races / 2 Days / 39.3 Miles / 4 parks / 3 Medals
Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge! Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge is the ultimate test of endurance. A 39.3-mile adventure held over two days, participants will run the Half Marathon on Saturday, followed by the Marathon on Sunday. If you finish both races within the pacing requirements, you will be awarded the coveted Goofy medal in addition to your Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse finisher medals. To compete you must be 18 years of age or older. All athletes entering the Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout each race. Registration for Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge is required to receive the Goofy medal upon completion of both races within the pacing requirements.

Walt Disney World Marathon
5:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015
The Walt Disney World Marathon is the final race of the weekend. Runners will compete on the most magical 26.2 miles on Earth. The course takes you through all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, and ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Walt Disney World SPEEDWAY. Look for some fun entertainment along the way and Family Reunion Area with live entertainment and characters. Finishers will be awarded a commemorative Mickey Mouse Finisher medal. To compete you must be 18 years of age or older. All athletes entering the Marathon must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout the entire race.

Dopey Challenge
Thursday, January 8 - Sunday, January 11, 2015
4 Races / 4 Days / 48.6 Miles / 6 Medals
Are you ready for the ultimate endurance challenge? Then take part in four days of fun for a total of 48.6 miles in the all-new Dopey Challenge! Participants will run the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon, and if you complete all four races within the pacing requirements you will be awarded the Goofy Race and a Half Challenge medal and the brand new Dopey Challenge finisher medal for a total of six pieces of "bling." To compete you must be 18 years of age or older. All athletes entering the Marathon must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster throughout the entire race. Registration for the Dopey Challenge is required to receive the Goofy Challenge and Dopey Challenge medals upon completion of all four races within the pacing requirements.

Downtown Disney Cool Down Party
4:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015
After all that training and mileage, it's time to indulge and unwind! Join your fellow runners at Downtown Disney Westside to celebrate your finish with friends and family. Enjoy food, music and last minute commemorative merchandise shopping. Admission to the Downtown Disney After Party is open to race participants, their guests and the public.

Note: Medal must be presented to receive discount. Discount valid only on January 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.- 10:30 p.m. All members of the party must be present at the time of purchase. Discounts and offerings are at the discretion of each operating participant. All offers are subject to change.

Race Information

Cancellation & Transfer Policies
Entry fees for the 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend events are non-refundable. If you are currently registered for The Walt Disney World® Marathon in 2015 you may transfer your registration to one of the other races, from one race to another, within this same weekend, subject to availability or until capacity in the category you are trying to transfer to is reached, on or before October 10, 2014. A transfer fee of $35 will be charged per transfer. Transfers are not allowed for the Disney Family Fun Run 5K or Disney Kids' Races events. Race entries cannot be transferred to another person.

Eligibility

  • Participants for Walt Disney World Marathon, Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Participants for Walt Disney World Half Marathon must be 14 years of age or older.
  • Participants for Walt Disney World 10K must be 10 years of age or older.
  • All ages are welcome to compete in the Disney Family Fun Run 5K.
  • Children 13 and under can participate in the Mickey Mile.
  • Other runDisney Kids Race distances are determined by age group.

Pacing Requirements
All athletes entering the Walt Disney World Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 K and 5K must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace throughout the race. Anyone not able to maintain the respective paces may be picked up and transported to the finish. You may be picked up at any point along the course and transported for not maintaining pace. It is suggested that you train at a 15-minute per mile pace.

Costumes
While wearing a costume is optional, amazing costumes are part of the event and are encouraged. There are just a few simple rules. Face masks are NOT allowed for security and safety reasons and questionable or offensive costumes are prohibited. Violators will be asked to change or be removed from the event.

Safety

  • The race will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, the race will either have a delayed start or, depending on the intensity of the weather, be cancelled.
  • For everyone's safety, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, canes, crutches, walkers, walking sticks and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Violators will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area.
  • Headphones are discouraged due to audio messages that are placed throughout the course to ensure runners safety.

Spectator Information

ChEAR Squad Packages
Be a part of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend when you register for the ChEAR Squad! Registered ChEAR Squad members will get inside information and tips about race weekend, reserved viewing location at the Finish Line, and much more! ChEAR packages of various levels are available from the free Bronze package to Silver, Gold and Platinum packages for a fee.

Runner Tracking
Family and friends will be able to track participants with live online runner tracking for the half marathon and marathon. Participants will have the opportunity to send split times via email, text messaging, and PDAs by registering for this service on runDisney's website. You can also sign up for runner tracking at Disney's Health & Fitness Expo.

Viewing Your Runner
You can view your runner in a number of different areas along the Marathon and Half Marathon course including the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and the Finish Line area. Spectators will be able to see their runner run through the Magic Kingdom Park near Cinderella Castle (Mile 5.3 for the Half Marathon and Marathon). This location will be open at 5:30 a.m. You do not need a ticket to enter the Magic Kingdom Park, but to enter the ChEAR Zone area, you will need a ChEAR Zone wristband. To watch your runner in another Walt Disney World Theme Park, you will need to purchase a Theme Park ticket once that park is open for the day. There will be a limited number of complimentary viewing seats along the Finish Line available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reserved seating is available for purchase through Disney's ChEAR Squad. The Finish Line is located in the Imagine Lot of Epcot.

Parking
Spectators should plan on arriving at Epcot by 4:00 a.m. on Half Marathon or Marathon race morning. The main entrance of Epcot from World Drive will be closed to all traffic from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on the mornings of the Half Marathon and Marathon. All traffic will be directed to the Magic Kingdom Park Parking Lot where they will be transported to Epcot via monorail. Traffic will not be affected for the Disney Family Fun Run 5K.
