swtbelle64 - December 2005
Disneyland

Cast: Me (41), DD (16)

Day 3: Wednesday - December 06, 2005

We had a leisurely breakfast, since DCA didn't open until 10. They let us in around 9:30, but no rides were operating. We headed to Soaring over CA, but due to technical difficulties, didn't get airborne until 10:10. It was good - not great, but enjoyable. Did California Screaming, which was FANTASTIC. Maliboomer - it was different. Then on to TOT. I missed the more extensive landscaping from the WDW version, but thought the two loading levels were a really great improvement. As for the ride itself - hard to pick a favorite. It was great, as always.

Tried to use our preferred seating coupons for Aladdin, but they said they were full. Later, during the show, we saw an obviously roped off and reserved section that was absolutely empty. I think we were had! Do NOT sit in the orchestra section if you want to enjoy all the effects. The show was very good. I wish I had the scrim contract for the two parks!

At that point, we were due at the Storyteller's Cafe. I was NOT impressed. It was not yet 2, but the doors were locked. I told them I had a reservation - and they tried to say I did not, even though I had spoken to Disney Dining that very morning. The food was good - but we had lousy service.

At that point, we'd seen everything we wanted to, so we went back to DL for more Indy, Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain.

HIGH POINT - California Screaming

LOW POINT - Lousy service at Storyteller's Cafe

Day 4: Thursday - December 07, 2005

The nice thing about having 3 days is that you get to see everything you want to, and then revisit your favorites. We basically rode everything I was enthusiastic about in earlier trip reports - and finally got to see the third "Eye of Mara" (Future)! (Not that it is all that different from the other two).

Went to the Golden Horseshoe and caught the end of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies (really talented guys) and had lunch at the Blue Bayou again - they said they were sold out through the weekend, but I had no trouble getting reservations the day before for a late lunch (2:20).

I have come down with a cold - despite taking Airborne on the plane - reminding me of the last time I was at DL. I went the day before taping "Win Ben STein's Money" and I swear the cold I caught was responsible for me losing sudden death! We had time to go back to CA and ride CA Screaming, Maliboomer and Tot. The cold turned me into the Disney zombie. I just did whatever my daughter wanted. Time to go back and pack.

HIGH POINT - Lunch

LOW POINT - the cold
