Revis Family and Bishop Family - April 2007

Who: Revis Family and Bishop Family- Karen (me) 35, Matthew (13), Maeghann (12), Mason (9), Mackay (8), Max (7), Malone (4) and my sister Kristen (34) and her twin daughters Karissa and Arianna (16 months)

Day 1 & 2 Friday April 13 & Saturday April 14

So, we leave at 4pm on Friday the 13th of April. I should mention we literally look like "the Clampetts go on vacation". I have a 12 passenger van. We bought one of those hitch cargo carriers which is completely loaded with coolers and 2 strollers plus the car is jammed packed in every nook and cranny and up the sides of the windows, etc.! Crazy day to leave as the whole Northeast practically is on Spring break as of today. We could not leave till 4pm as my sister is a teacher and had to work a full day the day before a break.

Not 1 hour into the trip we hit bumper to bumper traffic and it lasts for 3 ½ hours. I should have mentioned by now that my sister does not believe in making her kids sit in a car as she thinks it is cruel, so the girls are barely used to driving in the car. So my children and I are tortured pretty much the entire trip down and the entire trip back with 2 SCREAMING girls!

So we are in bumper to bumper through the rest of CT and through NY City and the NJ turnpike. It clears a little once we hit Delaware. I drove from 4pm-9pm. My sister then drove from 9pm-2am. Then we did 2 hour shifts as it is so hard to stay up during the wee hours of the night. So I did 2am-4am. I was literally falling asleep so I was going to stop and sleep at a truck stop but my sister offered to drive so she drove and I went straight to sleep for 1 ½ hours- I was out like a light! I woke up at almost 6am. She drove till 6:30am and then we switched again and I drove the rest of the way. Once it is light out I am ok to drive and I had my second wind!

We arrived in Disney at 1:30pm. 21 ½ hours- not bad. My sister owns at Bonnet Creek- it is right next door to Caribbean Beach Resort. Our room was ready- yahoo! Since it is not guaranteed till 4pm. We had a 3 bedroom condo with a living room and full kitchen and 2 bathrooms plus a laundry room. It was wonderful! Though I should mention- we were told there was complimentary transportation to the parks- as my sister was coming back every day to give the girls a nap- well, they will bring you to the parks in the morning, but return transportation does not start till 5 pm at night-very disappointing!

We emptied the car for 2 hours- yeah a TON of stuff! And then we hit the pool and had an early dinner and then an early bed! Which I totally needed after only getting 4 hours sleep since Friday morning and it is now Sat night!

High- we are at Disney!!!

Low- only 4 hours sleep in 2 ½ days! And listening to 2 screaming babies for literally 21 ½ hours- they even screamed through the night!

Tomorrow- MGM
