Becky & DH - July 2007

Cast of Characters: Me, 35yr old teacher and disneyfanatic. This is my 8th trip. My husband, 39yr old in sales for a major food distributor who tolerates disney for me. This is his 4th trip.

Day 1: Sunday, July 29, 2007

This was a "second honeymoon" for us as it is the first trip we've had alone together in over 4 yrs after having 2 kids, the oldest of which we took for his first time last year. Since we just went last year, this trip was to be more relaxing, although my dh was worried because he knows what a compulsive planner and list maker I am.

Hotel: We stayed at the Polynesian, a splurge for us but we thought it would be a romantic place to stay. We had park hoppers and for the first time had the dining plan. I have been doing Weight Watchers since March and have lost 28 lbs but was not planning to watch points while on the dining plan. I did wear my pedometer most of the time though.

We drove from Buffalo, NY on 7/28 and stopped in SC for the evening and arrived at the Poly at around 4pm on Sun, 7/29. I requested a room in Tokelau thinking it would be in the middle of everything and upon check in I tried to see if we could upgrade to a better view. No to both. This was the first time I didn't get my building request but we ended up in Tuvalu which was a short walk to the food and the pool, although you have to walk around the small marina. A long walk to the TTC though! It was a corner room and we liked it. I think I'll be spoiled now since the room was so big! I stopped and bought a banana (.99) at Capt. Cook's and we took the monorail to MK because it was EMH night tonight.

MK: we got there about 5:15pm and shopped the right side of Main St. I was still hungry from the ride and we had late dinner ressies so we stopped at the Bake shop and bought 2 cookies and a water.

We happened to pass by the castle when Mickey's show was starting and we stood and watched most of it. Then we walked into Adventureland and walked right onto Swiss Family Treehouse. I was disappointed by how much litter there was around the staircases. Jungle Cruise had a 30min wait so we skipped it and went in the shops in Adventureland and then saw the Tiki Room with about a 10min wait. Then we did PofC which had a 20min posted wait but was more like 10min.

We shopped Frontierland and Liberty Square. Shopping is so nice without having my son want to buy the whole store. Our dinner ressies were for Liberty Tree Tavern at 7:55pm but we checked in at 7:30 and were seated at 8:10pm. I love the food here! The dressing on the salad and the honey butter are awesome. The steak was the best out of the 3 meats (turkey-a little dry and pork good)also) and the green beans were also a favorite. All of the characters did not make it around by the time we finished our cobbler with ice cream that we barely had room for. We used table service credits for this meal ($69.70 with tax and tip)We always come here for dinner as it is always delicious! While we were here I encountered another cleanliness problem. The bathroom upstairs had a toliet plugged so the wait was super long and it didn't appear to have anyone trying to fix it. I don't remember Disney having problems like this in other trips I have made.

After dinner we caught Spectromagic by the circle by the castle and then walked over to the rose garden to watch Wishes. We walked over and did Monster's Comedy Club (10min wait)for the 1st time and it was really cute! We were too tired out from the drive to do the EMH night after all so we went back to the Poly for a drink at the bar (another thing we hardly ever get a chance to do at home) and called it a night. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoy reading and living vicariously through other's reports!

Day 2 coming soon!
Steps today: About 6000.

Day 2: Monday, July 30, 2007

Today we were going to EPCOT all day. We slept in to catch up from our drive and ate Tonga Toast and bacon (me-counter service credit) and a bagel(dh - snack credit) for breakfast). I love the tonga toast but it is very sweet and a little greasy. At breakfast I realized I had lost my refillable mug yesterday while I was walking around taking pictures of the resort. I checked at lost and found but no one had turned it in but the magager of Capt. Cook's gave me a new one anyway after I offered to bring her my receipt from yesterday. The emloyee at the register also messed up and told me I didn't have any counter service credits left! A manager helped him fixed it but I discovered later on we were never actually charged with a CS credit for this breakfast!

We walked to the TTC to catch the monorail to EPCOT and arrived around 10am. We picked up fp's for Soarin and walked over and right on Journey into Imagination. We then waited about 10min for Honey I shrunk the Audience and in between we sent an animal face e-mail back home(in imageworks).

We walked to Morocco then for lunch because I love the chicken swharma sandwiches at Tangerine Cafe.(9.95)I also got baklav there for dessert (2.50)with my counter service on the plan but didn't have room so saved it for later. DH wasn't feeling good so he didn't eat but ended up getting a huge pretzel before our next stop - a tour.

We walked back to The Land because we had ressies for the Behind the Seeds tour. This was our first time doing any tour. I'm always afraid of tying up too much of my time in one and I thought my dh would like this one since he has a huge vegetable garden at home. We did the tour at 1:15 and it was only supposed to last an hour but ended up to be almost 2. maybe it was beacuse there was torrential rain during it and the guide was hard to hear. It was very interesting. We learned about pest control, then went through the greenhouses and learned different growing methods. They had cucumbers for us to try and gave us a sheet on building a hydroponic gro-tank at home. We saw alligators and got to feed the fish. There were about 12 of us on the tour with some children included.

After this, we rode Soarin with our fp's, then dh was hungry again so he grabbed a hot dog and we walked to World Showcase for the rest of the day.

We started in Mexico and walked right on the 3 Caballeros boat ride. I wouldn't do this again unless I brought the kids. On to Norway. Maelstrom had a 40min wait so we skipped it and shopped. By now my receipt says it was 4:30pm. We shopped China, Germany, and in Italy caught the end of the juggler who was really good. I had some Plum wine in China($4.79) Delicious! We shopped America and Japan and then decided to check in early for dinner at another favorite of ours-Le Cellier, which was booked solid for the evening.

We checked in a 6:30. While waiting I noticed a trivia question posted at check in- What is Canada's dollar coin called and what is it named after, which of course I knew living in Buffalo, so I answered it and received a paper to pin on that said "Honourary Canadian. This is funny too since my grandmother was a newfie so I am part Canadian. The greeters were also plaing "Guess which Princess I am thinking of" with the kids that were waiting. We were seated at 7:00 all the way in the back. Unfortunately the glasses of coke they gave us were wet so I dropped mine and the bottom by the stem broke, how embarrassing! I had a caesar salad, the regular filet and the Canadian club chocolate cake. DH had the tomato stack appetizer, regular filet and the seasonal sorbet for dessert (107.48 with tax/tip on meal plan) The salad was different but good with long rows of romaine, a toasted parmesan crisp and croutons on the side. The tomato stack was awesome with a hollowed out tomato overflowing with tomato chunks, onion, maybe cucumber with balsamic vinegar. The filets were awesome served over cream cheese mashed potatos. The cake was light and delicious and the sorbets were blackberry and something else but the blackberry was the best of the 2. I also love the pretzel bread!!! We left by 8 and decided to go back to the hotel. We had a drink on the beach at our hotel and watched the water pageant.

Tomorrow: MK and Studios.
