Terri & Family - February 2006

Day 1 - 2/14/06: Plane ride and arriving

We went to Des Moines the night before to A. get DS (12) some new shoes and B. be closer to the plane for our 9am flight. We stayed at the Holiday Inn by the airport which has a park and fly and a shuttle bus. Nice! Got to the airport around 8am and breezed through security in this GREAT BIG airport..LOL

We flew American...went to Dallas and then on to Orlando. The first leg was HOT HOT HOT. we couldn't get any air in the plane. Everyone was complaining. It was in the 30's when we left. The flight was noneventful other than the temp.

We arrived in the Orlando airport around 4pm and went to the Magical express area. Got right on a bus and only waited maybe 10 minutes til we departed. Watched the tv al the way there and got dropped off at the CBR. Check in was a breeze. We got where we requested and had adjoining rooms with the IL's. We were in Trinidad North, 3105 and 3106. Close to the food court and pool.

We went to our room and went down to the food court for a bite and to get our mugs. We weren't really sure about the meal plan so we paid for our meals and mugs..$98!!! BUT.....as we understood the plan we realized we could have used them as a counter service. A very nice CM at the end of our trip let us credit the extra CS we had left and saved us about $125!!!!!

Anyway...eating and waiting for the IL's which were coming along later. We checked out the pool...kids wanted to swim. It was like 40 there and I said no. We went back to the room and got a call from the IL's. They had made it to Orlando and now didn't know what to do. Nevermind the fact that I wrote down every scrap of instruction for them in plain English. They NEVER travel. Nana has NEVER been to the World and was so excited! Papa could have gone right back home to his chair and the discovery channel.

Anyhoo...DH took the internal shuttle to the front check in area to help them along. I unpacked and the kids watched the disney channel. Finally they arrived and we got them something to eat. It was 9pm and we watched some of Illuminations from the lagoon. Our luggage hadn't arrived yet and we were pleased to see it was there when we got back to the room. We all went to sleep to prepare for MK in the am!

Good things: Getting there!!!! Our room was great, location was great!
Bad things: Papa complaining, it's COLD here..LOL
