Soroko Family - August 2006

Overview and some tips

Just returned on Thursday from our 12 night stay at ASMov. Wow what a whirlwind of a trip and I am glad that we don't start back to work until Sept 5th so I have a vacation from the vacation. I always intend to do trip reports by day but always do only a couple of days and then give up so I am doing an overview of our stay and then hope to do the trip reports by day.

We usually go every August if we can but this year started a week early (Aug 12th - 24th) and what a difference the crowd made on the beginning of the trip. I did purchase Tour Guide Mike but didn't really log on too much but felt what I printed helped us out and taught me a new way to look at things so it was great! ASMov was soooo busy, they said that they didn't have an open room until Sept 28th.

We had the free dining plan which was great to not have to pay. I sent a seperate email but if you are going soon, do NOT leave home without a good plan of where you want to go to on what day and some ADR's booked. We met several people who were unable to use their TS credits because there were no open tables to eat at in mostly any park. My opinion on the dining plan is that it is way too much food and takes spontaneity out of your trip if you don't really plan well. We found ourselves rushing a lot to get to the restaurant (mostly because for most of the trip we were eating with 2 other families and had a table for 11 so we were very limited in time choices).

We did have a refrigerator and we froze water bottles every evening which we refilled in the food court and then carried into the parks in our diaper bag. What a great money saving option this was for us. We could have used our snack credits on drinks but I think it's silly to pay $2 for water if you don't have to.

We charged everything on our Disney Visa to get points (almost 2 years) and used this money for souvenirs which was so nice not to have to spend our own money or charge our room and come home with a bill.

We got very addicted to pin trading this time, mostly due to the "free" pins that you get from using Magical Express. Maybe someday we will be able to sell them and pay for our daughter's college fund, hee hee.

Travelling with DD (14 months) was hectic and fun. Much too much stuff to pack for her but she absolutely loved the characters and we made some great memories for ourselves that I know she will never remember but we will and has now named every doll "Ella" because Cinderella was everywhere we went it seems and she took a liking to her.

Hope to write more about our daily experiences!
