Day 1 - May 14th, 2006
Well after months of planning and researching this trip we finally
have left and are on our way to WDW.
BTW, I would like to thank Linda Norton of TMFL travel for all her
advice and expertise in helping us make this trip happen. And a
large thank you to all of you for your advice over the years that has
made this trip enjoyable. Also, we used a lot of TGM concepts in the
parks and in the planning stages.
We are all packed up and are driving from our home near Kalamazoo, MI
and we started to drive to Chicago for our first night of vacation.
The drive went with out problems, and yea the construction along the
way makes it a bit slower. We decided to spend the night before in a
hotel so we wouldn't have to drive real early in the morning. Boy and
I glad we did this as the travel was a bit slow on 294.
We arrived at our hotel the Four Points Sheraton O'Hare in Schiller
Park. The hotel was nice, not a 5 star hotel, but what it lacked in
amenities it made up 100% for in location to O'Hare. We parked our
car and we swam in the pool and we felt like animals at the zoo, the
one wall was the hall way to the conference rooms and they were having
a wedding and the young boys stared at us thru the window.
The kids were doing homework, since one of my daughters teachers
didn't like us taking her out of class she gave her tons, and tons of
homework to do with reading in each of her text books. (When we got
back we found out that she is doing this work in class that she was
given as homework to take on her trip, ugggg!!)
We got some pizza and watched the planes land and take off from
O'Hare. We didn't have to be up early so we just hung out and finally
went to sleep. We were all nervous for the flights the next day.
It's the first time for the girls, and my wife is not fond of flying.
We paid 150.00 for this place and it gave us 10 days parking, not a
bad deal. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
High points: being at our hotel the jumping point of the whole trip.
Low points: feverishly doing homework so we wouldn't have to carry the
heavy text books on the plane.
