Marci and Family - April 2006

Hey everyone, we just got back from our 9 days in WDW. It was of course wonderful!! We spent the first two nights at the Port Orleans French Quarter - our first ever experience staying on site. I have finally gotten my husband to believe that going first thing in the morning is the best! He has never wanted too before, but now that he tried it, he's hooked! We did so much on our first morning at the Magic Kingdom, that he will forever be there at Park Opening now! I finally got to see Spectro Magic too - LOVED IT! (Although some people who don't know that WDW is the happiest place on Earth, kind of killed the spirit a bit).

Cast of characters: ME: 34, DH 34, DD 6, DS 4

Ok, maybe I will try a trip report - I have never written one before, so bare with me:
Day 1: Friday night, we checked into POFQ, around 6:30. Grabbed a bite to eat at their food court, then took the boat over to DTD to meet Rashida (a fellow list member working at Disney this semester) at the Wonderful World of Memories. Took the bus back to POFQ, met a very nice family from New Jersey on the bus, DS again mentions the Buzz ride! The only thing he could talk about on the 10-hour drive. Headed to bed for an early start.

Day 2: DH accidentally hit the mute button instead of the speaker button on our wake up call - oops. We got up & out of the resort in time for EMH at the MK. DH decided to drive; we got the best parking ever!!! After taking the monorail over to MK, we head in & straight for; you guessed it, the Buzz ride! WE rode it twice in a row. Then DH &I each rode Space Mountain, doing the child swap. Then we head over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - my DS is finally tall enough to ride! DD has ridden it once before, because her best friend Andrew wanted to ride, I didn't think I would ever get her on it again! But she did it - her eyes were closed tight thru most of the ride (she doesn't like the tunnel with the bats). DH stayed there to ride Splash Mountain, but neither of the kids wants to ride, so I take the kids to Fantasy Land - we ride Peter Pan, the Carousel, & Dumbo. DH meets us & he takes the kids to play at the Pooh playground & I go to see Philharmagic FINALLY!! (I have been trying to see this since we went in Oct. 2003 & the two next trips, but since the kids saw ITTBAB first, they won't sit thru any other 3- D shows - they once said they would, but we had to leave right after it started!) LOVED IT!! DH goes to see it next & we ride Dumbo again. Then we ride It's a Small World & then head over to the Indy cars for the kids to drive. On the way out we stop at Buzz & ride it again. We left the park about 9:30 AM. Then we headed over to MGM. DH wants to take the bus this time, since we have such a prime parking spot! DS wanted to see the new Stunt Show - he saw it on the Internet. As we get in & pass by Indiana Jones, we go in, it's starting in 3 minutes - we have to leave almost as soon as it starts, since the kids freaked out. We walk around a little more, then stop to eat lunch at Prime Time Cafe. I really enjoyed it! Plus it was early, 11:15 AM, so there weren't many people there.

After lunch we head across the park to do ToT (using child swap) - I met a nice lady from Ohio (I think) & her son - I rode with them :). Then Dh rode - I took the kids over to get fast passes for RnR & a child swap ticket for DH. Beauty & the Beast show. DH finished before the show started & he decided he didn't want to ride RnR, so he stayed with the kids for the show & I went to ride RnR. Talked to a Dad & his daughter in line & gave them my fast passes for RNR, since DH said he didn't want to ride & that he was ready to go play in the pool - he promised DD.

We took the bus back to POFQ & made the kids lay down for a little while. DD slept for about 15 or 20 minutes, then woke up & went to play in the pool. I was so proud to hear she worked up the nerve to go down the water slide! DS slept for an hour or so.

We went back to MK because I really wanted to see Spectro Magic. Before the Parade we rode Buzz AGAIN! We grabbed a quick bite to eat, at the CS in Tomorrowland - that's up from Buzz; I can't remember the name... Then went thru Toon Town & rode Goofy's Barnstormer & checked out Mickey’s house, Minnie's house, & Donald's boat. The kids & I rode IASW & my DH went to get another snack & to stake out a place for us to watch the parade. We met up & I pulled out some of the glowing bracelets I had bought at the dollar store before leaving. We were in Liberty Square, right across from the popcorn vendor that is near LTT. I gave each of my kids a bracelet, then one to the little boy sitting next to us. They had some bands that were marching & they kept closing off the street for them - our stroller was right between the rope & a brick wall & people couldn't fit very well between us, so we moved to the other side of the walk way they tape off & parked there beside a pole. It was pretty empty still, just starting to fill up. A family - well two really, but they were together) moved in on the side of us. We were pretty close to the taped walkway & you couldn't really stake a place on the other side of us - at least not a large group, a couple could fit there. Anyway, The families to the side of us were 4 adults & 5 kids I think. They decided to move back & sit on the brick wall until the place started filling up. Then they moved in to the front. The mom actually told her kids to sit in front of me & my kids (who were still in their stroller sitting close to the rope). DD had to go to the potty & when we came back, the mom & 4 of the kids had moved & sat next to our stroller - actually touching the stroller, right up against the stroller wheels, (our own double umbrella one) closer to it than I had been sitting - so I had to ask if I could get next to my kids again - they weren't happy, but let me in - so the mom then told her kids to sit "right there" - on my feet (literally on my feet). Kind of annoying, but then they were told they had to move because they were on the other side of the rope (the 2 in front of our stroller). Ok, if that wasn't annoying enough - that was a small annoyance I took care of with a please don't sit on my feet... It almost got nasty on my DH side of the stroller. A couple with a single stroller had moved in next to my DH. He at the time still had room to sit or get down, but then as more people came, he got moved over - he was standing before the parade & literally was boxed in with strollers - ours, the people next to him - then the very rude people pushed in - they also had a rented double stroller (I say the rented ones, because they are big/long, hard plastic ones). They moved in pushing closer & closer to the back of my DH. DH now had absolutely no space to sit - AT ALL. He had a pole in front of him - the parade route ones they put in, so it's short, but you can't see thru it. A stroller to each side of him & behind him. The rude lady & her mom & her 2 boys were moved in as close as they could get, kept inching forward, pushing between other strollers. So after she gets my DH completely blocked in, she looks at me & says, that she wants us to sit down when the parade starts because she has kids. OK, number one, had she been the least bit nice about it or had something other than an eat sh** and die look on her face, I wouldn't have been so blown away. I didn't even know how to respond & couldn't right away... I looked at the little space where she wanted my DH to sit (for he was the one blocking her view)& asked where? & then said something to the fact, that I didn't think we would be able too, seeing as how there was no space to sit & a pole sitting right in front of him. Ok, she did push up to the point that my DH could no longer sit, he had the smallest square of space, he couldn't even stand straight, only sideways. Plus the fact that there was no one sitting by us, except the kids who had been on my feet. The lady was pissed & yelled at me that she had kids & they wanted to see, my DH was not to thrilled with her either & told her, that's why people line up for parades early (since it had already started, just wasn't quite to us yet). I still didn't want to be totally rude, so I mentioned that they were about to block off the rest of the walkway & maybe there would be more space where we could sit or they could get to the front over there. (which they were on the taped line. She then was still so mad that when her boys were able to get to the front, she wouldn't let them near "those people" - meaning us. Really took some of the magic out of the night. People who are that unhappy shouldn't be allowed to stay in the parks. I realize we all have our moments, but that episode really, really upset me. To be so rude & yelling at people for what they forced upon us (since we were sitting to begin with), it bothered me for the entire next day! Ok, sorry, I know I rambled on about it - but it really did upset me.
