Cast = myself and DD and many stuffed animals
Okay just some quick notes on my recent trip. I will try and make up
some trip reports later in the week, from little notes that I kept
everyday.
We headed out of NYC on Sunday, February 19th. Our train departed at
3:15 p.m. DD was very excited about the train. We had gotten some
great information from Bruce about his adventure on the train. We
had a sleeper car going down and this was great and our meals were
free on the train. I would consider doing this again, but it would
depend on how much airfares are at the time of travel.
We got to Florida a little past 1 p.m. on Monday, February 20th. Got
off the train and quickly found Bob from Sunray Transportation. What
a relief it was, to get off a train and know that I had safe
transportation for me and my DD who were traveling solo this trip.
We quickly got our luggage and were safely in Bob's nice clean truck
and had a grocery stop and Publix, which I picked up some bottled
water, a styrofoam cooler, some cereal bars, pop tarts and a few
other staples for the room.
We checked into Pop without incident and we were placed on the 4th
floor, not too far from the pool. We were also close to the food
court, and a short walk then to the buses.
We were originally supposed to leave Florida on Saturday, February
25th, and I kept checking all week to see if a sleeper car had become
available for our trip home. Because, I just decided that I really
did not want to do coach seats going home. I wavered too much and
lost the chance to get a room for Mondays train. I finally rebooked
the train for Tuesday morning after speaking with my supervisor on
Friday evening and asking if I could get an extra day and take
Wednesday off from work (which was the day I was due back in).
Got that approved called Amtrak, got the sleeper car for Tuesday and
then called Disney reservation and was able to get a room at All Star
Music with a passholder discount. Which was nice.
We checked out on Tuesday, February 28th and at 10:30 a.m. we were
back in Bob's car and headed for Amtrak, where I changed my tickets
and the ticket agent tried to get me a discount on the tickets but
could not. I thought it was a nice gesture. A little after 1 p.m.
we were on the train heading back to NYC. Our train was late getting
into Orlando and late getting into NYC. We were supposed to be in
NYC at 10:30 a.m. and got back around 1 p.m.
Called for a car from the company that I use at work, and we were
home by 2:30 p.m.
We took some great photos using photopass and I purchased the CD on
Monday evening at Epcot. I had some problems with my cell phone
breaking (weirdest thing). But T-Mobile sent me a new phone to the
Pop Century and I paid $15.00 for the shipping, which was well worth
it.
The service on the train heading to Florida was great. The service
coming back was not as good, especially the dining cart. But more to
come on that.
