Corbin - June 2005

My alarm went off at 5:30 am. I did not have much left to do, so I did not have to rush. I got myself cleaned up & then I woke the boys up at 6:30 am. I finished packing our last minute items. We left our house at 8 am to pick up df Toni. Dh was driving us to the airport. My boys still think we are just taking Toni to the airport & that we are going to spend a couple days in Peoria swimming & shopping(Peoria is about a 45 min drive). We arrivd at the airport pretty early, but beings I have not flown for awhile I wanted to make sure we did not encounter any delays. Once we arrived & parked we all got out supposedly to walk with Toni to check in :) Riley noticed dad taking out the camera & asked what he needed that for. I told him we just wanted to take some pictures of Toni leaving. Dh opened the back of the Jimmy so Toni could get her luggage, at this point I told the boys I had something I needed to tell them. My heart was racing with the anticipation of how they would react! I held them both & said guess what we are going to Disney as well! They both looked at me & gave me that yea right look lol They did not believe me! They honestly thought I was playing a joke on them. I told them I would never play a trick that cruel :) I told them to get our luggage so we could get going & check in. They were not budging lol I told them maybe 5 times that yes we are really going, but you could tell by their faces they still were not sure. All this time dh is snapping pictures & I am laughing because I can't believe that they do not believe me. Finally I pull out the park tickets & say would I have these if we were not going, now do you believe me? The looks on thier faces were priceless, they now knew they were truley on their way to Disney. They were both like how did you keep this a secret, how did you pack lol I told them that I had been basically planning this since our return trip in Feb & with them being in school packing was easy. I had originally planned just for the boys & I to go, but decided to ask my df Toni if she would like to join us. She works 3 jobs & has never been so I figured she could use the time away :) They both gave me a hug & told me thank you, oh how precious :) Riley is really getting excited now, he has wanted to fly so bad & now he is getting to do just that! Check in was very quick, there was no line. We walked right up & got our seats for the plane. Toni checked her luggage, but mine was all carry on. We still had an hour left before we needed to go through security so we sat outside with dh & waited. The boys also got to watch some planes landing & taking off. When we arrived at the airport it was dead, but the closer it got to boarding time the more it filled. We said our goodbyes to dh & headed through security. No problems here either. Our flight was good & the boys both enjoyed their 1st plane flight. Me on the other hand, I was nervous lol I am not much on flying, I think I just about squeezed Garretts hand off during take off lol But once in the air all was fine :)
We arrived in Sanford around 3 pm & boy was there a difference in the weather! The humidity smacked you right in the face when we got off the plane. We headed down to baggage claim & Toni's luggage was their waiting for her. We went to Allegiant Airs customer service desk & picked up some coupons to use in the Orlando area. We then walked over to Alamo to pick up our rental car. I had directions to take 417 from Sanford to Pop Century but the gentleman at Alamo talked us into using I4 instead. He said with it being a Sunday afternoon traffic would not be bad & he was right. We left Sanford around 3:30 pm & stopped along the way at McDonalds to get a bite to eat.
We arrived at Pop between 4:30 & 5pm. We made it without getting lost lol Check in was very quick, no line at all. I had the same cm check us in as when we were here in Feb lol Even Garret mentioned that it was the same person. I got the 50's building as requested, thank you Deb from TMFL! We were on the 4th floor this time room 1460, this was a corner room. We were close to the staircase that led right down to the bowling pin pool. We were still pretty close to the food court, gift shop, & buses. The rooms now come with hair dyers, this was new since our last trip. I was glad beings I did not bring one & it would save me from having to call housekeeping for one. We got unpacked & were getting ready to head to DTD. It started to rain & Riley chose this time to go down to the arcade. He was soaked when he came back, oh well a little water never hurt anyone lol I had some things I wanted to put in the safe, but there was no key. I immediatly called the front desk to let them know. I did not want to be charged for the missing key. I was told we could use one of the safes at the front desk if we liked till they got the key replaced. I told them that was fine & I would be ok till they got it fixed. Maintinence came up & none of the keys they had would work. So they said someone would be here 1st thing in the morning to get it taken care of. Within a few minutes of him leaving I received a call to see what would be a good time for them to come the next morning. We set up a time between 8:30 & 9 am. Ok that's all settled & the rain has stopped, yeah!
We are now off to DTD. We decided to drive beings we still needed to stop & buy some breakfast items & I needed to get a cooler for the room. We were lucky & found a parking spot close to the entrance of Marketplace. It was a little busy here & getting humid. We walked around & checked out a few of the shops. Toni & I enjoyed looking at & smelling all the goodies in the Basin shop & the boys really enjoyed Legoland. We ate at The Earl Of Sandwich, got right in line with no waiting. We sat outside to eat our food & the ceiling fans helped keep us cool. Our food was very good! I wrote a review on what we ate in a previous post. This is a must stop when you are at DTD. The prices are great & the sandwichesare very tasty. The boys walked over to the Toy Store while Toni & I finished our sandwiches. Garrett came back with a Potato Head picture he had made on the computer. It was getting late & we still needed to make our grocery stop. We went to the new Super Walmart that a member here had mentioned, Thank you! This was very easy to find coming from DTD. The store was busy, but still easy to get around. We purchased our items(Garrett picked out a Winnie The Pooh stuffed animal & Riley Picked out Pluto for the room. Much cheaper to buy here than at the parks) & headed back to PC. We put our food items away & I iced down the cooler for the milk & water. We put the stuffed animals in our window. Finally about 1 am we settled in for the night.

Maintinence came & fixed the safe. They ended up having to put in a new safe, but we now had a key. We were a little slow getting around & made it to MGM by 12:30. I had not planned on us arriving this late, but hey it's a vacation! The weather was really nice, it was warm but manageble. I had purchased cooling neck bandanas for myself & the boys & I think these really helped to keep us cooled off. On our way to TOT Garrett wanted to stop in a shop that sold Winnie The Pooh items. The cm's were very friendly here & the boys got some pressed pennies. Garrett was given a certificate for being 2 Winnie The Poohs tall & Riley received one for being a Tigger & a half tall, how cute! We made it to the TOT & Riley was the only one who wanted to ride. This really surpised me that Garrett did not want to ride it, he loved it we we went in Feb(not me I am the chicken lol). We got Riley a FP & went to watch the Beauty & The Beast show. This was our 1st time seeing this & I know alot of people enjoy it, but it was not for us. After the show we headed back to TOT so Riley could use his FP. We all walked with him & then took the chicken exit when he got on the ride. After this ride we got a FP for RnRc. We walked around some more just checking out different shops & enjoying the day. The park was not very crowded & I think this may have been because the night before was thier EMH night. We then got FP's for the Indiana Jones Show. I have seen it a couple of times & thought the boys would enjoy it, we did not make it to this show in Feb. We decided we were ready to eat. I had planned on us eating at the Backlot Express but we all decided we would like to try Mama Melrose. We did not have PS, but had no problems being seated right away. Beings I had not planned on us eating here I had not checked out the menu on Allears, so not trying to sound like I a am totaly dumb here but I did not know what the majority of the items were on the menu(neither did Toni lol). Garrett ordered spaghetti & Riley ordered a pepporini pizza. Spaghetti was not on the menu for adults but the waiter said no problem if that is what we wanted. While waiting for our food he served us some bread with a wonderful dipping sauce. Not sure what it was, but it did not last long lol Our food arrived & everything was very good. Riley was still hungery after his pizza so I shared my spaghetti with him. Now we are ready to pay & the waiter brings our bill. Ok I realize I ordered something that was not on the lunch menu but I honestly did not think the bowl of spaghetti I had would cost $14.79! I realize I am at Disney & yes things are more pricey but spaghetti is not worth this price I do not care how good it is lol I did not complain, it was my own fault :) I will eat here again, but next time I will be prepared. The service & atmosphere were great. It was a nice break from the afternoon sun.
By the time we left the restaurant The Indiana Jones show had already started. Oh well there is always the next time & yes there will be next times :)We decided to watch the Muppets 3D show. Riley got a kick out of this show & we all enjoyed it. The boys then rode Star Tours. At this time the parade started. It was to hot to stand in the sun to watch the parade, so Toni & I sat in the shade while waiting for the boys to return from Star Tours. We then headed over to The Great Movie Ride. This was one I had never done before myself, so it was new to us all. Walking through the que line their were 3 guys standing behind a rope. From a distance you could not tell if they were real or not. Well Riley found out they were real lol He reached out to touch one & he said "What are you doing!" Oh Riley jumped back & the look on his face lol I could not keep from laughing. They are the guys that ride around the park & squirt you with water. I really enjoyed this ride & so did everyone else. After this we headed back to RnRc so the boys could use their FP's. Garrett again decided he did not want to go on this ride(he loved it last time). So I walked up to the FP line with Riley to make sure he could get on it by himself(remember mom is a chicken lol). He came off the ride ready to go again, he just loves these thrill rides. It was getting late though & we needed to head back to our room for a little rest. On our way out we stopped in a few more shops to look around. In planet Hollywood Garrett found a hidden Mickey! He was looking at a picture from Jurassic Park & by one of the fossils was a little mickey, I thought that was so cool.
We got back to PC around 7:30 pm. Housekeeping had put 2 towel animals in our window with the stuffed animals, oh how I love Disney! Toni & I rested while the boys took a quick swim in the pool. We headed back out again around 10:00 pm, we took the car beings we were going to eat offsite. We ate at Ponderosa which we all thought was very good. We left with full bellies. We drove to MK for the EMH, I just had to experience the extra hours at night. We arrived a little after 11:pm & the park was closing to non resort guest & the lines for the monorail & boat were horrible. Glad I was not leaving lol We found a parking spot right up front & got right on the monorail. Once inside the park we got our braclets & we were off. The park was busy, but I did not think it was that bad. We walked around looking at things more than anything else. The MK is so beautiful at night. Within an hour or so the park was getting less crowded. We rode Peter Pan, It's A Small World, & Aladdins Carpet. While standing near this ride, I felt something wet then realized the camel had spit on me lol I told Toni the camel just spit on me & she thought I was crazy lol During the ride I got spit on again which Garrett thought was hilarious. We then rode HM, this is one of my favorite rides & I never tire of it. I wanted to ride POC, but for some reason I could not find it. I was disoriented or something lol I love this ride as well. The boys talked me into to riding SM. I am not into rollercoasters which I know this isn't one, but I did not like the looks of the drop. I am so glad I went on this, I loved it! Of course I had to close my eyes on the drop, but it was not as bad as I had thought it would be. We decided to ride it again :) It was closing time & the park was practically empty. I really enjoyed walking through MK with hardly anyone there. When we got to the momorail there were only 2 other people waiting so I asked the gal at the gate if we could ride in the front. She had us move over to an area where we could board on the front. This was so cool being in the front. We were all tired so we really did not talk to much (Riley is a talker & loves to ask questions about anything, but even he was to tired to talk). This was a perfect ending to our day.
We drove back to PC & finally made it to bed around 4:00 am. Wow what a long day! I had plans for us to get up early for Epcot, but that wasn't going to happen now lol We all agreed that we wouuld just sleep in & we needed it.

We slept till noon, the day before had wiped us out. We decided to hang around the pool for awhile & I did a little bit of laundry. My plans for Epcot & riding Soaring did not happen, but thats ok plans are not written in stone :) I was hoping to get to try out this ride so it is definetly on the top of my list for our next visit. I had alot of other things planned for the boys to do at Epcot as well. This just gives us more to look forward to.
We had PS for Rainforest Cafe at AK for 5:45 pm. We all got cleaned up & headed for the bus. We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was very friendly & took very good care of us. We all just loved this place. The atmosphere here is wonderful, not to mention the food! I will definatley eat here again. This place is very loud though, so if you are wanting peace & quiet this is not the place for you :) I loved the thunderstorms & listening to all the animals. Our waiter noticed the boys were collecting pennies so he gave them each one, I thought this was very nice. We looked around the gift shop for awhile & then took some pictures by the waterfall, just lovely.
This was AK EMH, so we thought we would check it out. I was really sorry that we wasted our time here, It was very crowded & the lines for the rides were really long. We did watch Tarzan Rocks & Riley got to ride one ride in Dinoland. Very disappointing, but it was nice seeing AK at night. Very beautiful! The boys played some of the games in the arcade area & we decided we would head out before everyone else did. We left around 9:30 pm & this was the 1st time we had to deal with long lines for the bus. Really glad we left when we did.
When we got back to PC we got the car & drove to Walgreens to pick up a few items. We got back to our room & called it a night around midnight. I had a wake up call for 5:30 am. Off to MK tomorrow!

I got the wake up call & all I remember Mickey saying was "Have a magical day" lol I finally drug myself out of bed about 6:10 am & hopped in the shower. Toni was up drinking her coffee when i got out(she brought a one cup coffee maker with her, she has to have her coffee in the morning lol). While Toni was drinking her coffe the boys took their showers. Once Toni was cleaned up we were ready to go. We did not make early entry(are you seeing a pattern here lol)but we did get there shortly after 9 am. I stopped on the way down Main St. & had a picture made of the boys shillouette(sp). This lady does a wonderful job & she kept them for me till we were ready to leave so I would not have to carry them around. We headed over to Buzz Lightyear & got FP's. Riley wanted to ride the Indy cars so Riley & Garrett got in line. Toni & I waited close by for them. It was really hot today & there is not much shade for that ride. While waiting for the boys I got a frozen smoothie, yum this was good & helped with the heat. The boys were ready for some of this by the time they exited the ride. They wanted to ride SM so we headed over there & got FP's for them, Toni decided she would try this ride out as well(not me the chicken lol) We then rode Buzz Lightyear. This is a very enjoyable ride, I could do this one over & over lol Lines for rides were getting very long & I just could not understand why more people do not use FP. We had PS for Crystal Palace at 11:30 so we decided to ride the TTA. We were getting hot & this was a great way to cool off. We ended up riding it twice :)
When we got to Crystal Palace we waited maybe 20 minutes to be seated. I just love this place! When we were here in Feb we had breakfast but Garrett missed it beings he was sick :( The boys really loved seeing all the characters & getting their pictures. Well I love it myself :) The characters came around twice while we were there & had their little parade which Riley joined in on. The food was wonderful & did I mention the Boston Creme pie, yum!
After leaving here we walked around & checked out the shops & the boys collected more pennies. We then headed for SM so they could use their FP's. The FP line was pretty long, the ride had broken down & they were waiting for it to open back up. Once they opened it, the line went quickly. Toni liked this ride but agreed that I probably would not. We got a few pictures with characters, but they did not stay out long with the heat. It was getting close to 3:00 pm & we decided we were ready to head back to our room(I'm not much on the parades & neither are the boys). It was hot & the lines were getting longer. Now would have been the perfect time to hit some rides, but we chose not to. We did not get to much done today, but that is fine with me. Just being here is magical & I am here for more than just the rides. As long as my boys are happy & they were ready to leave as well. They wanted the pool! I stopped & got my pictures of the boys & we stopped in a couple more shops. We got back to our room around 5:00 pm. Housekeeping had added another towel animal to our window & put Pluto in the curtain. It was so cute I had to take a picture lol It started to rain & the pools were closed. Garrett layed down & instantly fell asleep. Toni soon followed. Riley was bouncing off the walls so down to the arcade he went. I used this time t write in my journal about the trip. When it stopped raining I went & got Riley & we ate at the food court. Garrett & Toni woke up around 8:00 pm. Garrett was ready to swim & so was Riley beings the pool had opened back up. We were going to go back out to a park but decided to just go down to the pool. Oh the water felt so wonderful, it was nice & warm. Toni & I stayed in the pool for about an hour & she was ready to eat. The boys wanted to keep swimming. We headed off to the food court which was now very busy. I was still full from eating earlier but I got Riley & Garret something to eat. I took it down to the pool & they ate it there. Shortly there after we all headed back to our room. We called it a night & went to bed.

This was our beach day & our DTD day. We were going to Cocoa beach 1st, Toni as never been before so she wanted to experience this. We had plans of getting to the beach early, but why change things now lol We drove on 417 & we were there before long. This is a pretty calm highyway, but the tolls really bite. We picked an area of the beach that was almost deserted. The waves were really coming in strong & I had to keep a close eye on the boys so they would not go out to far. I had brought some baggies along & Toni & I collected some shells while the boys enjoyed the water. Boy was it hot here! I had to stand in the water to keep cooled off lol After we left the beach we headed to Melborne to eat at CiCi's Pizza Buffet. We stopped at a gas station along the way because the boys had sand everywhere & needed to be cleaned up. The pizza buffet was really good & worth the $3.99 we paid. After eating we headed back towards Orlando & stopped at a mall called Festival Bay on Internation Drive. We had a coupon from the airline that we wanted to use :) It started raining really hard, but lightened up some by the time we got to the mall. This is a very nice mall & I would like to come here again to spend more time. We went to Hilo Hatties a Hawaiian store to redeem our coupons. With a $20.00 purchase you received a free Florida T-shirt & a box of macadamia nut chocolates, couldn't resist that lol Toni found a few things for herself & family back home. I found a few things myself(I had been good so far & not bought myself anything). After paying for our items& getting our freebies we stopped in a Disney Store. I was wanting to find a Tink tank top. I did not find one here, but I did get a cute Pooh & friends T-shirt for Garrett & an Eyore T-shirt for Riley. These were only $9.99. I found A T-shirt for myself as well for $12.99. Same T-shirts being sold at the parks for $20 or more, so I felt I got a good deal :) It had stopped raining & we headed back to PC. We freshened up a little when we got to our room & then headed to the bus stop for DTD. We got off at Pleasure Island & headed for DQ. I had planned on the boys being able to spend more time here, but again things did not go as planned :)This is a really neat place & the boys enjoyed it. I promised them next time they would get to spend alot more time here. We had coupons for Ghirardelli's for BYGO sundae free or half off one sundae. Toni had the hot fudge sundae & I had the brownie sundae, mmmmmmmm! Garrett had a chocolate cone & Riley had vanilla in a cup(he does not care for cones). After our ice cream we walked around a little & the boys bought some pins & we bought a grumpy pin for dh to go along with his grumpy hat he purchased in Feb. Garrett also bought some Mickey trading cards that are really cool. He is looking forward to getting more of these to collect. The boys also bought some of the mickey wristbands in the cool tye dye colors. I finally found me a Tink tank top, so I was happy! It was getting late & we still needed to pack, ugh. We had to get up early for our flight. We got back to PC a little before midnight & rushed to the food court to grab a quick bite. Once in our room we started packing. Packing never goes as smoothly when you are leaving than when you are arriving lol We finally got to bed around 2:00 am. We had a wake up call for 5:00 am, yuck!

I heard the phone ring but I was to tired to answer it. Toni picked it up thank goodness. She does not remember what Mickey said either lol Toni let me sleep while she got cleaned up & then she woke me up. As soon as I was out of the shower I woke the boys up & they hopped in the shower real quick. We were out the door & headed for Sanford by 6:45 am. We had filled up the tank the night before so we did not have to bother with that. We took I4 again & still the traffic was not bad(I guess we got lucky). It was a little busier but did not delay us any. We got to the airport, returned the rental car & checked our luggage(I checked mine this time, it was a little heavier leaving lol). We had no problems getting through security & there was not a line. Once through security we had enough time to eat some breakfast before boarding the plane. The flight was uneventful & we made it home safely. We ate lunch when we got home & then the boys were out the door! Me well I took a nice long nap :)
Going in June was not as bad as I had feared. I was really worried about the heat & crowds, but we managed just fine. I am sure the futher into summer it gets the weather will not be as bearable. We did not get to do as much as I had hoped & I was really disappointed in myself for not making it to Epcot. We just couldn't seem to get an early start, we enjoyed being up late :) But on a happier note the boys & I are going back in October! Couldn't pass up the free dining, Halloween, & The Food & Wine Festival. Look out Disney here we come again!
