Who: Angie L.

Where: The Wave - Contemporary Resort

When: Saturday 9/20/08

What: Lunch

We just went to The Wave for lunch on Saturday 9/20/08. It was our last table service meal on the DDP before we left for home. What a way to be sent back to reality!!!

Our ADR was for 1:40 pm and we checked in about 1:15 pm and was seated right away. The restaurant was almost empty-us and another couple were the last seating before they "closed down" to get ready for dinner!! There was about 4 other tables just getting finished when we were seated.

All I can say about the place, food and service is WOW!! It was WONDERFUL!!! The restaurant is beautiful!! Our waiter's name was William and he was the 2nd best we had during our trip (the best was Jack and Sherry at Victoria and Albert's)!! He was very attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu and what he would recommend as well. There was 5 of us eating, 2 adults and 3 teenagers (so age wise 5 adults). My son ordered the Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger - served on a multigrain roll with choice of papaya slaw or roasted potato wedges, orange soda and the Creamy Indulgence - cheesecake with raspberry coulis, coconut panna cotta with passion fruit drizzle, chocolate pasion fruit mousse with pecan-olive brittlefor dessert. The burger was HUGE and very tasty he said-there wasn't a speck left, so I guess he wasn't kidding :-). My oldest daughter ordered the Mediterranean Tuna Salad - Herb-crusted seared Ahi tuna with green beans, potatos, orasted red peppers and olive toast (the tuna was rare) which she loves, a coke and the Freshly Crafted Sorbets - lemon basil sorbet, pineapple sorbet, strawberry sorbet for dessert. The salad was also HUGE and although she wasn't able to finish it-she said it was wonderful. Now William did let her know when she ordered it that the tuna came rare-he said he wanted to make sure she knew that and was ok with it-she of course said yes, but I thought it was great that he advised her beforehand.

My middle daughter ordered the Chicken sandwich on a multigrain bun which came with potato wedges, coke and the Decadent Flavors - blueberry compote with yogurt gelato, lemon cornbread with vanilla panna cotta, chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce for dessert. Again, the sandwich was HUGE with lots of flavor but it has a goat cheese spread on it that she said she didn't really care for. She still ate the majority of it-but said if she ordered it again, she would ask that they leave that off.

I had the, Today's Sustainable Fish - with corn and edamame stew, saffron oil, and balsamic glaze. It was salmon on this day-but changes almost daily he said. It was absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! It was cooked to PERFECTION and the spices were to die for!!!! It also came with green beans which were also very very good. I had a coke and the Freshly Crafted Sorbets- lemon basil sorbet, pineapple sorbet, strawberry sorbet for dessert.

My friend had the Italian Chef Salad- Mixed greens tossed with red wine vinaigrette served with prosciutto, cappicoloa, provolone, salami and shaved parmesan, Sprite, and the Crispy and Crunchy - vanilla-braised pineapple spears, almond-pineapple-raisin baklava, zucchini-carrot cake with vanilla panna cotta for dessert. She said everything was wonderful.

We shared the desserts-it was neat to do that to get a taste of everything. We all decided that the "lemon basil sorbet" tasted like the smell of lysol :-). But every bit was gone so it must have been ok right :-)?

I just can't say enough about William. He was the best!! He joked around with us, told us about the menu in detail, made sure we were never out of anything. My son wanted some hot sauce for his burger (he eats it on almost everything), William sent someone over to Chef Mickey's to get him a bottle!!! I thought that was AWESOME!! He could have just said they didn't have it!! He got MORE that a 20% tip from both me and my friend-he was that good!! I am a former waitress, so I can be pretty picky about details and customer service, and I found that William just couldn't be beat!!

As our lunch came to a close-we were the only ones in the place, but he said for us to take our time-he didn't rush us at all!! We finally left about 3:15 :-). We even ended up taking pics with him. So in all this rambling-I am saying GO to THE WAVE and I HOPE that you get William as your server and that your breakfast, lunch or dinner is as good as ours!!
