TheMouseForLess Restaurant Reviews

The Plaza Restaurant, Magic Kingdom

Who: Linda (40-something) and Suzanne (10)

Where: Plaza Restaurant, Main Street USA in MK

When: Sunday, October 29, 2006, noon

What: Lunch. Two Angus beef burgers, one with potato salad and the other with fries. Ordered Brownie Sundae for dessert.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Burgers were $10.95 each, Brownie Sundae was $4.09, iced tea was $2.19.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4.5 (would be five except for brownie wasn't that great-- Ghiradelli has a better brownie sundae)
Service: 4.5
Atmosphere: 4
Okay for Children: Yes. This is a small restaurant (capacity if 94 people). One crying child will be heard throughout the entire place.
Okay for Couples: Sure, why not.
Be Sure to Try: I love their German Potato Salad. Don't know how they make it, but its wonderful. The burgers were awesome. Suzanne had hers just with cheese, but mine included mushrooms and onions and cheese. This is probably the best burger I have had at Disney and it was not greasy.

General tips: This is a very small restaurant and it often sells out well in advance. Do NOT use the dining plan here--there is nothing on the menu to make it a good value. THis is a nice place to get out of the parks for a short rest.

TheMouseForLess tips: portions are generous but not huge.

Extra Comments: make an ADR, or walk up first thing in the morning if you think you want a table. It will sell out.

Who: The Hicks FamilyÑMe, DH, DD 5

Where: Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom

When: August 20, 2005

What: Lunch

Approximate Price of Entrees: $48.75 for two Mikeloedeon Burgers, and a turkey sandwhich. Sit Down Lunch

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 3.5
Atmosphere: 2Ñthere were flies everywhere!
Okay for Children: Yes. But make sure you know there is going to be a wait. We asked to have DD lunch brought right away while ours was cooking, but it didn't happen.
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: The burgers were goodÉnot terrific.

TheMouseForLess tips: I can't say enough about the Dining Plan. We are a family that prefers sitting to eat, rather then eating on the run.

Extra Comments: This was just about our only spontaneous meal. We were surprised that the place was not packed.

Who: The DiMella's (me)Angela 45 , (dh) Bob 48, (ds) Danny 19 (DD) Samantha 15

Where: Plaza Restaurant / MK

When: July 2005

What: Dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: $11.00 each

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 4
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: The burgers!! You can get them any way you want with whatever you want on them!! The ice cream!!

General tips: This place is usually not too busy. Don't think many people know it's there. So you can walk in w/o a problem.

TheMouseForLess tips: The burgers are huge so your kids can split them!! The prices are good for a full service.

Extra Comments: While it doesn't have a fancy menu the food is very good. It's smallish inside but the tables aren't squished together. The burgers are great. Better than counter service. The fries and onion rings were crispy. The service was very good and very friendly. The ice cream was great too!!

Who: John and Jackie

Where: Plaza Restaurant at MK

When: 9/14/02

What: Lunch (Philly Chessesteak for John and Turkey Sandwich for me, plus two sundaes)

Approximate Price of Entrees: Around $8-$9 per sandwich, about $4-$5 per sundae

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes (staff was quite good with a "picky" eater seated near us)
Okay for Couples: Yes! (Just like an old-fashioned first-date place. We loved the Victorian feel of the main dining area and the glass conservatory).
Be Sure to Try: Turkey Sandwich a great fast food alternative-- served on delicious multigrain bread; Brownie Sundae (but not if you order a meal as I laughingly learned!). It's HUGE with three brownies, lots of hot fudge and vanilla ice cream.

General tips: While this place is a bit hidden (right around from the Ice Cream Parlor), you may want to make PS around lunch time. We did and only had a 5 minute wait at noon, while walk-in's had a 30 minute wait.

Dollarless tips: We went again and learned to share a sandwich and > sundae, as portions are very large. Grand total second time was only $16.

Extra Comments: We found this to be a great place to get out of the September heat and cool down midday. Plus, it was great to people-watch from the conservatory windows :-) If you don't want lunch, it's fun to stop in just for a sundae.
