Who: Shaw Family - 3 adults, 2 kids

Where: 'Ohana -- Polynesian Resort

When: Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008

What: Dinner. This meal is served family style. They start by bringing caesar salad and appetizers, which included dumplings and chicken wings. The main course is a variety of meats (steak, pork, turkey), which is brought on large metal skewers to your table. They also give you shrimp. The steak was very tender, all of the meat was delicious. There is definitely plenty of food. They will bring your kids a separate meal if they are picky eaters. I think the choices were a hamburger, mac and cheese, or a grilled cheese. Dessert, is a large bread pudding with a banana sauce, served with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total was approx. $120...we were on DDP, so we only paid the tip.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5

Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes (there are some secluded sections)
Be Sure to Try: The steak and shrimp were great. The dessert was tasty, everything is really good here.

General tips: Definitely make sure you have an ADR because this place gets very crowded. They have a lady who plays music, sings, and engages the kids in games and different activities, so it gets loud, but it's fun, and if your table is near the large picture window, you will have a great view of Cinderella Castle.

TheMouseForLess tips: Reasonable as part of the DDP. They will bring you as much food as you can eat.

Extra Comments: My dad doesn't like bananas, and the server automatically poured the banana sauce all over the bread pudding when she brought it to the table...if I had known, I would have asked her to just let us pour it individually or gotten a smaller separate order for him.

Ohana Breakfast (1 Table service)
Amie - 5/15/08

Love...Love this one! I think it is just how Welcoming they are this is located in the Polynesian Resort. They Welcome you and call you cousins. They are so wonderful and nice and explain everything. The Characters are really good there is Mickey, Lilo & Stitch, and Pluto. There is a little parade that the kids can get involved in at one point.

This is served family style and it is yummy and wonderful food. Orange juice, Coffee, eggs, Cinn. Rolls, Mickey Waffles, sausage, bacon and potatoes..the food is wonderful and the serves is wonderful and everyone is very nice. You can also do a family picture. This is one of my favorite in Disney and just really starts your morning off good.

Who: The Dunns (me - 38, DH - 34, DS - 6, DD - 4, Nana - 66, Gramps - 67

Where: O'Hana

When: Friday dinner 2008

What: dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: $30 (with holiday premium - my parents were paying for it out of pocket and they were not amused) our family of 4 was on DDP

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Okay for Children: absolutely!!!
Okay for Couples: yes!!!
Be Sure to Try: Everything. This was (in my opinion) our best meal of the trip. I enjoyed it more than LeCellier - I think they are training their cooks better because for the first time the turkey was not dry and overcooked. The turkey and pork with the peanut sauce was out of this planet. The steak was a perfect medium warm pink center as well - very hard to do on skewers. I also think they changed the sauce of the wings.. it had a spicy aftertaste to it!!! Much more heat than what I remembered (this was a good thing.) Our kids ate exclusively off the main food for the first time - we got a chicken finger basket for them just in case but they ate very well on the normal food. I would say DON"T fill up on the wontons and pace yourself because it can be a lot of food. This is not a good place for vegetarians.

General tips: Try to sit near a window if you can... also if you have kids, definitley do the hula!

TheMouseForLess tips: Great place to use a DDP credit

Who: Land family

Where: 'Ohana at the Poly

When: Sunday October 1, 2006

What: Supper

Approximate Price of Entrees: Our total for 3 adults and 2 kids + tax and tip was 126.93--I think the breakdown was 25.99 per adult and 11.98 per child

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 3
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 4
Okay for Children: Yes, there were many kids there and they had activities for the kids to do
Okay for Couples: Yes it would be fine
Be Sure to Try: The salad and dressing is AWESOME and the Bread Pudding well--it's actually better than the salad.

General tips: We were seated to the side of the fire pit where they cook the meat. It was neat watching that. We were a little far off from the children's activities but it wasn't any big deal really. The dining area is rather large and I felt that there was adequate space between the tables.

TheMouseForLess tips: The food was served family style. They brought big platters and skewers of food to the table and would bring you seconds if you needed any. We only asked for seconds of the --can you guess---Yes salad and dessert.

Extra Comments: This was neat but we probably wouldn't go back. The main portion of your meal was the meat and we felt as though it all tasted alike. We are meat eaters but---good grief---that was a "mouse" load of meat!!! I would recommend someone going but it is not a must do for us!!

Who: The Skamarakas Family (Mom, Dad, Eilis, age 5, and Granuaile, age 1)

Where: 'Ohana

When: April 17, 2006

What: character breakfast - fruit platter (pineapple, grapes, honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon); bread basket (pineapple bread and another sweet bread); sausage; bacon; scrambled eggs; Mickey waffles; island style home fries

Approximate Price of Entrees: $52 plus tip

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: This is almost a must for children! With the characters (on our visit, we saw Mickey, Lilo, Stitch, and Pluto) and the parade, our 5 year old had an awesome time.
Okay for Couples: The tables by the windows afford you a beautiful view of the lush Polynesian landscape below, and you could make it a very nice couples breakfast. Just know that you will be interrupted by the children on parade and by the characters.
Be Sure to Try: Our menu for the morning included an absolutely delectable pineapple bread that is NOT to be missed!! Both of our little ones enjoyed the Mickey waffles too.

General tips: Go hungry, as they will bring you as much as you want. We had an 8:30 ADR, and were full until about 3 PM when we had lunch. Also, for the second parade we saw when we were there, quite a few adults joined their kids, so if you have a shy child, don't feel like you can't participate with them.

TheMouseForLess tips: If you time it right, you might be able to make do with this meal and a light dinner.

Extra Comments: Our waitress, Kristin, was so awesome! The baby LOVED the Mickey waffles, but HATED the characters. Every time a character came near her, she would fling her waffle in the air and grab on to me. Well, at the end of the meal, I asked for a paper napkin to take Grace's waffle pieces with us. After we had paid our bill, Kristin came running over with two hot waffles in a box and told us to take them with us so the baby could eat them later.

It was also very busy, but she was quick to refill drinks and bring seconds on the sausages :-)

Okay for Children: Definately yes, it is a character meal
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: The sweet Bread, it is a coconut pineapple bread and is so yummy

General tips: We had an ADR for around 10:30am and had almost the whole restaurant to ourselves, we got great character interaction

TheMouseForLess tips: We used the DDP so tax and tip were included

Extra Comments: They do a fun little parade with the kids around the restaurant. We had a blast here.

Who: Angela G. and family Angela, Allan(dh), William(ds)

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5 (best waiter during our stay)
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: They will love the hula lessons, coconut races, etc.
Okay for Couples: Yes, but you must love kids and expect the kids to get up and do the activities as well as parents taking pictures of their children. There was one couple with a child that was extremely upset and caused a huge scene because of all the activity and picture taking.
Be Sure to Try: bread pudding. I don't normally like any type of bread pudding but this was delicious.

General tips: Relax and enjoy but expect lots of activity and kids running around.

TheMouseForLess tips: You can eat as much as you want so ask for seconds of anything you need.

Extra Comments: Don't forget you can see the fireworks from here and set up your meal for the right time and then ask for a window seat or a table near the window.

Okay for Children: Yes definitely! They do coconut races and hula hoop contests with the kids!
Okay for Couples: Yes, but remember this is not a quiet place!
Be Sure to Try: the salad- the lime dressing is WONDERFUL!, the shrimp-YUM! and the wontons- VERY YUM!

General tips: Have an ADR. If you time it right, you can see MK fireworks from this restaurant and they pipe the music in to watch the fireworks with.

TheMouseForLess tips: use your DDE card here! Remember it is on alcohol also!

Extra Comments: This is my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Disney. I mean my #1 FAVORITE! All the food is wonderful. My kids have a blast with the games. It is not a place were you have to worry about your kids talking loud or getting up from the table. It is just.......... Magical...................

Who: The Waite Family Ð Mary and Bob

Where: 'Ohana

When: May 21, 2005

What: Two adult Dinners, which includes choice of non-alcoholic beverages and starters (or appetizers) which consist of tossed salad with a honey lime dressing, fried rice, stir-fried green beans with onions, honey-barbeque chicken wings, and shrimp and vegetable wontons, along with three dipping sauces Ð fruit, peanut and cilantro ginger. Three-foot skewers containing marinated sirloin steak and mesquite-seasoned turkey are brought to your table. Then grilled tiger shrimp and barbecued pork loin skewers are brought to your table. At the end of the meal, fresh pineapple with caramel dipping sauce is brought out to your table.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Two Adult Dinners was $42.48 with the Disney Dining Experience card Ð Normal Price would have been $53.23.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5 Ð Definitely come hungry. We practically starved ourselves all day just to enjoy this dinner.
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: Everything. I, for one, would never eat pineapple, but had only been exposed to canned pineapple in the past. When the fresh pineapple with caramel sauce was brought out at the end of our meal, I decided to give it a try and to my surprise, I loved it.

General tips: You definitely need a Advance Dining Reservation here Ð otherwise, you could have a really long wait if you are able to be seated at all.

TheMouseForLess tips: If you have a DDE card Ð use it. If youÕre using the Magic Your Way Dining Plan, this would be a good choice.

Extra Comments: If you donÕt mind eating too late, schedule your ADR for about 90 minutes prior to the start of Wishes at the Magic Kingdom and ask to be seated near a window so you can view Wishes at the end of your meal.

Who: The Nuzzo Family

Where: O'Hana's

When: 4/21/04

What: dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: 19.95 adult - 9.95 child

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere:
Okay for Children: Yes - definitely
Okay for Couples: Yes - ask for a table set back from the central area, it'll be quieter ;-)
Be Sure to Try: The Green Beans and the Fried Rice

General tips: If you have Kids this is a great place. My son had a ball with the coconut races and Hula Hoop contests. If your kids are picky (like mine) ask for the alternate kids menu, we had Grilled cheese and mac 'n cheese fro the two lil guys at our table.

Dollarless tips: was very tempted by the desserts we saw as we walked in, but the fresh pineapple and caramel sauce was outstanding! No extra dessert for me!

Extra Comments: We will definately go back! Cast members were frindly and attentive. And the food was great!
