Napa Rose Menu

Napa Rose

Who: Karch

Where: Napa Rose

When: August 21, 2009

What: Went for my wife's birthday. I had the scallops, mushroom bisque and white sea bass. She had the deep fried veggie, summer salad and filet mignon.

Approximate Price of Entrees: $170

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 4

Service: 4

Atmosphere: 4

Okay for Children: Not really.

Okay for Couples: Yes.

Be Sure to Try: It's all good.

General Tip: Free valet parking is a nice touch.

TheMouseForLess Tip: Good food but way overpriced. Thank god the bread was free. The portions are small (two scallops for $17.) Go if you crave snob appeal.

Extra Comment: Even though my wife wore a Disney "birthday button" we did NOT get a free dessert. This after I made sure to mention it when I made my reservation too. Never again.

Who: The Lapins

Where: Napa Rose

When: August 5, 2009

What: Shared four appetizers with wine

Approximate Price of Entrees: $33 per person

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5

Service: 5

Atmosphere: 5

Okay for Children: I saw parents with their children in the dining area so I'm assuming there's a child's menu. I personally feel this is more for adult tastes.

Okay for Couples: Definitely

Be Sure to Try: My two adult daughters and I shared the stuffed zucchini blossoms, the fantastic cheese assortment (with lightly toasted french bread), the pizzette (margarita) and the heirloom tomatoe salads. All of these were delicious.

General Tip: We sat in the lounge area which is huge and beautifully decorated. Large, comfortable chairs.

TheMouseForLess Tip: This is an expensive restaurant so by sharing several plates we were able to keep the cost down.

Extra Comment: The service was excellent and they worked hard to accommodate my daughters who are vegetarian. Some of the items had meat which they omitted very easily. There are alot of restaurants who have a very hard time with this concept!

Who: Moore

Where: Napa Rose

When: May 2008 (review submitted March 27, 2009)

What: Dinner:

Approximate Price of Entrees: $30

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5 - Excellent

Service: 5

Atmosphere: 5

Okay for Children: Yes, quiet, well-behaved children. Not toddlers or babies

Okay for Couples: Yes, perfect for couples of any age

Be Sure to Try: Sizzling Beach Rock appetizer and portobello mushroom bisque "cappuccino" soup.

General Tip: Allow enough time to relax and enjoy the evening. The cocktail lounge area is comfortable and quiet so leave time to sit and enjoy it. Make reservations!

TheMouseForLess Tip: I can't think of any way to make this experience less expensive. Save up for it and enjoy! It is worth it.

Extra Comment: I recommend the "Vintner's Table" Four course vintner's prix fixe meal plus flight of 4 wines for a total of $120 each. Pricey but lots of food, great wine pairings and GREAT service. Without the wine it is only $75 each. Go for it!

Who: Lazaruk Family

Where: Napa Rose

When:9/13/08

What: Dinner:
Scallop Appetizer, Salmon Dinner Entree, Halibut Dinner Entree, Potato/Leek Side, then Creme Brulee Dessert and Chocolate Pate Dessert

Approximate Price of Entrees: $35 per person

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5 - Excellent

Service: 4.5

Atmosphere: 4.5

Okay for Children: Yes - Anything Disneyland works with kids, but note that it is a very nice restaurant and you need to know your child and their ability to "sit" for a longer dinner. We will be going again next week while my husband's mom is in town and we'll take our 3-year old

Okay for Couples: Absolutely

Be Sure to Try: Scallops with Lobster Reduction Sauce appetizer!

General Tip: Requesting a table with a view would be recommended for making the evening special. Also, being able to watch the monorail whiz by can be especialy exciting for kids.

TheMouseForLess Tip: Unfortunately having an Annual Pass does not allow discounts, but dinning there for a special occasion will allow you a complimenary dessert and bringing your own wine is helpful in easing the $ 50-300 per bottle price, at a corkage fee of only $ 17. (That's a very low fee for a restaurant with entrees at an average of $35.)

Who: S. and J. Cole

Where: Napa Rose at the Grand Californian

When: July 2008

What: We sat at the Chef's Table and had him "cook for us". We can't even begin to explain what we had but it was so amazing.

Approximate Price of Entrees: $200 per couple without alcohol

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5+

Service: 5

Atmosphere: 5+

Okay for Children: They have a kid's menu but we suggest that the kids are older and not too young.

Okay for Couples: YES YES YES!

Be Sure to Try: ** everything ** HA!

Extra Comments: If you can get a reservation at the Chef's Table go for it! You can order off the menu or you can tell the waiter to have the chef "cook whatever he wants". Our waiter asked us a few questions about our likes, dislikes, allergies... Once that was over, the head chef and sous chefs came over, introduced themselves, and proceeded to cook the most amazing meal we've had in a long time.

Who: Jessica Johnson, Deb Chambers and the Stockwell family

Where: Napa Rose at the Grand Californian

When: April 2004

What: dinner. Sauteed Hand Harvested Diver Scallops with a Sauce of Lemon and Lobster, accented with Fresh Vanilla Sauteed Tender Duck Breast with Herb Spatzel, Braised Fennel and Blood Orange-Merlot Essence Tangerine Coller- Tangerine Sorbet on a Frozen Mint Souffle with Tangerine-Blood Orange Soup

Approximate Price of Entrees: dont remember

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5

Service: 5+ (our server, Rodney was outstanding)

Atmosphere: 5

Okay for Children: Yes, it's a bit more of a formal place, but kids are perfectly welcome

Okay for Couples: Yes

Be Sure to Try: the excellent wines

TheMouseForLess Tip: Portions are huge - so can easily be shared.

Extra Comments: On certain evenings, Napa Rose offers live Jazz, they have an extensive wine list, and also offer a "Tasting" Menu
