Who: DH (Roger), me (Linda), DS (age 8), DD (age 6)
Where: Bongo's Cuban Cafe, DTD
When: late June 2003
What: Lunch. I had Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha with Plantains and
rice; hubby had a Cuban Club Sandwich. DS had the kids Hamburger, DD
had the kids chicken nuggets. Substitutions allowed (rice for
fries).
Approximate Price of Entrees: approximately $40 for family of 4
Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5. Food was hot, fresh, and extremely tasty without being too
spicy. The fried plantains were excellent--I had never eaten them
before.
Service: 5. Server was attentive without hovering too much. Water
glasses filled regularly.
Atmosphere: 5. We were there for lunch, and it is a huge
restaurant. Not a lot of other diners. Architecture and the
pineapple in the center was pretty cool. Music was latin, and not
too loud. Kids want to go back.
Okay for Children: Yes, preferrably for lunch. This place probably
gets loud and busy for dinner and kids who are overwhelmed and tired
from a day at the parks might be overstimulated here.
Okay for Couples: Yes. Looks like a fun place. They have Salsa
Dancing at night and the martini menu looked interesting.
Be Sure to Try: I'd try just about anything at this place. Food was
fresh and plated nicely.
General tips:
Dollarless tips: Used my AP discount for lunch. The sandwich
was rather large; my dinner portion generous for the hungry person.
Extra Comments: A good alternative for folks who like Mexican food.
Try it! Its pretty darn good and I will to go back.
