Who: Pikeman

Where: Flame Tree Barbecue at the Animal Kingdo

When: October 2007 (review submitted 9/8/2008)

What: ribs, green salad with barbecued chicken

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $7.50/person

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5
Service: 3

Atmosphere: 5

Okay for Children: YES! The seating area is quite large and we walked to the very back where the 3 year old was able to take a nap in the stroller b/c it was relatively quiet - even when the parade walked by!
Okay for Couples: Yes - nice to watch the birds pick up the leftovers on the ground. There's even a small reflecting pond with a tile wall around it that's quite charming.

Be Sure to Try: The ribs were good and my kid loved the corn muffin. But the salad with chicken was superb. I was actually peeved we had to eat here, but the salad was delicious! It won me over and now I try to go back every year.

General Tips: The seating area is quite large and has lots of nooks and crannies. Try to have one member of the party scope seats while another adult waits in the long and slow moving line. That's really my only complaint - the service at the window is slow.

TheMouseForLess Tips: Portions are pretty big. We had 4 adults and a three year old to feed and ordered 3 entrees and that was plenty. Any more would have been wasted.

Who: Porter

Where: Flame Tree Barbecue at the Animal Kingdo

When: May 26, 2008

What: Two had the ribs, one the Chicken, shared a Key Lime Pie.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Total $8

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5
Service: 5 - a lot of lines to order your meal, then to carry to a table

Atmosphere: 5 - Love the pavilion facing Expedition Everest

Okay for Children: We have no children under 30, but I believe it would be good for kids.
Okay for Couples: YES, the food is always good, tender and tasty.

Be Sure to Try: We love the chicken and/or the ribs, and the new muffins are so tasty and wonderful, you always get more than enough food to fill you up, sometimes hard to finish everything, with chicken/ribs and muffin and beans.

General Tips: WE love to go down by the lake, there is a pavilion that faces the Ride Expedition Everest, there is one right at the water, and the characters come by on a boat from time to time, but there is other pavilions near there, also a ornamental pool to sit near at some tables, it is very relaxing.

TheMouseForLess Tips: Portions are large, could almost order one meal for two people, especially if you are not hungry. We ordered a Key Lime pie, it took 3 of us adults to finish it, we had so much food, my son and husband saved their corn muffin for later and it was still delicious, we stuffed it into the drink cup, wrapped in a napkin, then in a bag, it was delicious.

Extra Comments: Make sure you go down the paths away from the front pavilion, we ate there for years and never realized how far the paths go, or that there were more tables and pavilions.

Who: Thornton Family (mom, dad and dd 16)

Where: Flame Tree

When: April 2008

What: We ordered on BBQ chicken salad, 1/2 chicken plate, 1/2 slab of ribs, onion rings, fruit plate

Approximate Price of Entrees: Around $30 for all the food, 1 drink and a refill of our drink bottle

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5
Service: 5

Atmosphere:

Okay for Children: yes, there are lots of birds here to watch (not just your average seagull or crow)
Okay for Couples: yes, there are some nice quiet places to sit

Be Sure to Try: everything was excellent!!

General tips: look for a quieter place farther away from the counter for a more relaxing meal.

TheMouseForLess tips: f your not a big eater, you could split something like the chicken

Extra Comments: There were cranes walking up to tables looking for food, we are bird watchers so it was especially exciting for us, but I think most people would enjoy this and all of the kids in the area seemed to be amazed by it.

Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5-It is counter service, but there is plenty of seating. We found a nice table watching EVerest, and had an added bonus of seeing the Character Launch come around the lake.
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: The barbecued ribs is my 11 year olds favorite. Very lean, and seasoned just right.

Extra Comments: The chicken salad was just OK. The chicken was sliced chicken, like lunch meat.

Be Sure to Try: The Rib Meal was very fresh.

General tips: There are lots of different types of covered outdoor seating... take a minute to walk thru the seating areas and find your favorite before you get your food.
