From Our MouseForLess Members:
MouseForLess Interesting Facts about the resort:
POFQ is the smallest of the moderate resorts. - Joan Faux
MouseForLess Room Request Tips:
There really isn't a bad location at this resort. You can walk anywhere in the resort in 5 minutes or less. Save your money and opt for standard view rather than water view. A water view can be either a view of the pool or the Sassagoula river. From your room you cannot sit and look out the window - you only see the view when you are entering or exiting your room. If you request a ground floor corner room, you will get two windows (much brighter) and won't have to take any stairs to get to your room. - Joan Faux
Buildings 2 and 5 are closest to the pool. - Becky B
The times we have stayed here, we have requested a room in Building #4 because it is the closest to the main building which houses the food court. - Dina McKenna
MouseForLess Hidden Treasures:
Beignets at the Sassagoula Floatworks are delicious. You can get an order of 3 for one snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. These are a fried dough specialty snack item that originates in New Orleans. - Joan Faux
You can order a whole pizza at POFQ's food court. - Dina McKenna
If you listen carefully while walking around, you'll hear jazz music being piped in. - TinaMarie Krasner
MouseForLess Tips for Romance:
This resort tends to be quite peaceful and quiet. There are many narrow 'streets' to take a nice stroll or you can wander the path along the Sassagoula River to POR and go for a horse and carriage ride in the evening. There are also many beautiful fountains and interesting details you can find and enjoy while strolling the grounds. - Joan Faux
Spend an evening in the outdoor Jacuzzi. - TinaMarie Krasner
MouseForLess Tips for Families:
POFQ is compact, so this means a lot less hiking when you are walking to and from the buses, the pool or the food court, compared to the other moderate resorts. This compactness is great for little ones or people with difficulty walking. A lot of the time POFQ has its own bus, but at less busy times POFQ and POR share buses. The bus picks up at POFQ first, so you get a seat and drops off first, meaning less wait time to get back to your room when everyone is tired. - Joan Faux
Keep in mind the rooms have double beds not queens. If you have older children this may be an issue. - Ronda Carter
The pool is not to be missed!! The Serpent Waterslide is great fun. There is also a kiddie pool for the little ones. - Becky B
If you are visiting during the Halloween season, POFQ offers a free Halloween party for children. They had cookie decorating, games with little trinket prizes, a scavenger hunt, & a costume parade around the pool & main area of the resort. - Dina McKenna
MouseForLess Tips for Large Travel Groups:
Even if your group gets split up, this resort is so compact that you will never be more than 5 minutes from each other. This is a great resort for large groups because of it's size. - Becky B
MouseForLess Tips for Guests with Special needs:
Request a first floor room in either Buildings 3 or 4. They are the closest to the main building and the bus stop. - Becky B
MouseForLess Tips for WDW Newbies:
POFQ and POR both have the option to take a boat from the resort to Downtown Disney. It is a nice leisurely cruise, and quite often the 'skipper' of your boat will share trivia and helpful info about the resorts and other areas of Walt Disney World. - Joan Faux
Take a small multi compartment organizer that hangs on a hanger for your tolietries. The area around the sink can get crowded if you don't have another place for your make-up and hairspray. - Ronda Carter
Definitely buy the refillable mugs. They will pay for themselves after just one day. You can also take a boat to Downtown Disney. - Becky B
POFQ & POR are connected to each other by a walkway in the back of the resort so you have double the dining options. This helps if you get tired of the offerings at the food court. POR also has a sit-down restaurant, Boatwrights, while POFQ doesn't. - Dina McKenna
MouseForLess Tips for Budget Travelers:
You can use the Disney Dining Experience card that is available to Annual Passholders and FL residents to get a 20% discount off at the Sassagoula Floatworks food court because there is no Table Service restaurant at this resort. - Joan Faux
Make use of the refrigerator in your room. It works well for quick breakfasts, lunches and snacks. If you are driving you can stop at the local supermarket and pick-up your items. If you are flying you can either buy them at the resort or buy them on-line and have them delivered to the resort. - Becky B
MouseForLess Tips for Luxury Travelers:
If you're looking for the luxury of a sit-down restaurant, you might be better off staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter sister resort, Riverside, where the full-service restaurant, Boatwrights, is located. - Carol Vandiver
