From Our MouseForLess Members:

MouseForLess Interesting Facts about the resort:

Quick 5-10 minute walk to Epcot. Share stores/restaurants with a connecting resort (Boardwalk Inn). Which in turn offers more than just your average hotel. – Sara King

MouseForLess Room Request Tips:

Upon check in put in a request for an upgrade to pool view room (If available). – Sara King

MouseForLess Hidden Treasures:

Quick and easy access to International Gateway at the World Showcase in Epcot and fairly quick boat ride to MGM. Because so many other hotels are so close you have lots of restaurants and shops at your fingertips. Check out the hidden Mickeys and the goofy prints in the rugs in the hotel and the silly circus type mirrors outside near the boat launch on the Boardwalk. – Sara King

Disney Vaction Club members can attend a special "Welcome Home Wednesdays" show most Wednesdays inside the Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk from 2-3 p.m. Hosted by two "long-lost relatives" (the quick-witted cousin you never knew you had and the bubbly niece you always wish you had) and staged in a backyard-picnic setting, the re-imagined show invites Member families to participate in a variety of home-spun games inspired by Disney Vacation Club Resorts and experiences. From "Surfer Says" to "Dress Like a Scotsman," the games are designed to be as family funny as they are family friendly. Refreshments are also served. As the show schedule is subject to change, be sure to visit the special events page (link to WHW page) on the DVC web site to see if and when the event is taking place during your next Walt Disney World vacation.

MouseForLess Tips for Romance:

You can spend some time on the lake with a Pontoon Boat, Canopy Boat or Mercury WaterMouse or take a specialty cruise. (Extra fee). Just a leisurely walk around the lake at night is so romantic – Sara King

MouseForLess Tips for Families:

The Boardwalk offers lots to do from swimming, carnival type games, free entertainers (some nights in the evenings) such as magicians, jugglers, etc., surrey bike rentals, boat rentals, bird feeding, fishing (catch and release only), hair braiding, games and activities in the pool area, 2 arcades (one at the hotel & one at the ESPN club), etc. Or just a leisurely stroll around the lake. GREAT place for the whole family. – Sara King

MouseForLess Tips for Large Travel Groups:

Try to book rooms together. Easier to plan things. So much to do here that everyone in the group should be happy. Rent the Grand Villa and share the cost. One of only (I think) 3 hotels that offer this. – Sara King

MouseForLess Tips for Guests with Special needs:

Boardwalk is easy to maneuver if you have a wheelchair or crutches. Smooth surface. – Sara King

MouseForLess Tips for WDW Newbies:

Great way to get to know the layout of Disney and check out the other resorts (lobbies, restaurants, shops, pools). Then you will know what place you would like to stay at next time. – Sara King

Beware of credit card scammers! Several scams have been perpetrated on unsuspecting tourists staying at hotels or resorts in the Orlando area in recent years, including Disney resorts. The first involves a phone call to your resort room in which you are informed that there is a problem with the credit card info you provided the hotel; you are then asked to give your card information again, including name and address. If you receive such a call, inform the caller that you will talk to the front desk personally about the problem and hang up. If you are convinced the call may be legitimate, call the front desk from your resort phone or visit the front desk to inquire. The second scam involves flyers left on your resort room door advertising cheap pizza for delivery. Those who call the number and give the requested credit card info with their order soon find that not only does no pizza arrive, but a huge string of unauthorized purchases show up on their credit card.

MouseForLess Tips for Budget Travelers:

Bring a collapsible cooler and stop at a grocery store on your first day. You do have a wide variety of eating establishments close by but all with the hefty Disney prices. Bringing in your own snacks and drinks can save you a bundle. Nice to always have something in the room to nibble on. – Sara King

MouseForLess Tips for Luxury Travelers:

Book a rejuvenating massage treatment. – Sara King
