Disney's Grand Californian

Submitted by: The Valcarce Family

Were: Disney's Grand Californian

Date of Stay: October 1, 2007

Type of Resort: Deluxe (booked through Expedia at $189/night for standard view, upgraded to Theme Park view for $40.00 extra at check-in)

Rate Paid During Your Stay: $400 - we got a 10% discount from our AAA membership

Room Sleeps: 4 plus a small child under 3.

Please Rate the Following on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 10 - I want to design my house after this place!
Room Size: 9 - The bathroom is a little small.
Amenities: 10 - everything you can think of is here.
Quality: 9 - this is the best of the DL resorts IMHO
Cleanliness: 10 - Spotless.
Transportation: 9 - within walking distance to both parks, but man, why don't they build a monorail stop here?
Recreation: 9 - lots to do, much more to do than we had time for, but of course, no marina like the WDW deluxes.
Value: 9 - you're paying for the location, of course, but not even the GF is this high in price!

Over all rating: 9 - if we can afford it, I'd love to stay here again.

Don't miss: The bathroom products are all sample sizes that they use in their spa.

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in 3317 and 3319 - technically it's a "city view" but we got a lovely view of the hotel landscaping, and you can see the monorail pass, but it's not noisy at all.

The Mouse For Less Tip: They have a AAA discount and an AARP discount - other than that - this place is too expensive.

Comments: Can't stress the convenience - I left Mickey's Toontown at 11:50 and was in my room at 12:10. There is a private entrance into CA which can shave down walking time significantly. We didn't go back to the room from CA this time around, but last time we did, we got off of a ride (Grizzly River Run) and walked to our room in ONE MINUTE FLAT. No exaggeration.
