Walt Disney World > Disney's PhotoPass

Disney's PhotoPass Information

Disney's PhotoPass gives guests the opportunity to have great high-resolution photos taken by Disney Photographers using state-of-the-art digital equipment at picturesque locations. Even better, your photos can be accessed, shared, and ordered online.

How PhotoPass Service Works

Locate a Disney Photographer. You'll find them throughout Walt Disney World Resort's four theme parks, water parks, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. PhotoPass photographers are also located at both Disneyland parks. The first time a photograph is taken, you'll be given a PhotoPass card with a unique 16-digit barcode.

MouseForLess Tip:

Write down your 16-digit number and keep it safe incase your PhotoPass card is lost. If your PhotoPass is misplaced, just ask any Disney Photographer for a new card. Multiple accounts can be combined later online. Using your cell phone to mail your 16-digit number to your email account is another great way to keep track of it.

You can now get PhotoPass cards on wristbands at the Magic Kingdom. To get one, visit Pixie Hollow, Disney's Fairies meet & greet located in ToonTown Hall of Fame.

Keep your Disney PhotoPass card safe and accessible at all times during your stay. Present your PhotoPass card to the Disney Photographer each time a photo is taken.

MouseForLess Tips:

If your party is likely to split-up, ask for a card for each family member and combine the accounts later online.

Ask for multiple poses. It's free and Disney photographers are glad to oblige. You can also as the Disney PhotoPass photograph to take similar poses with your own camera as well.

Disney will often superimpose characters (*see "Park Locations" section for specific characters) into one of your PhotoPass photos. These characters can vary by location. Ask what characters might be available at each location.

Disney has begun adding ride photos as an option for addition to your PhotoPass card. Currently the photo taken while riding Test Track at Epcot is the only attraction using PhotoPass technology, but watch for more attractions to come online in the future.

60 Days is the Magic Number

After your vacation, use the web address printed on your PhotoPass card and your 16-digit number to access and "claim" your pictures online at disneyphotopass.com within 30 days of the date the photos were taken. You will have an additional 30 days after logging into your PhotoPass account to add borders, character signatures (available for Disney's PhotoPass photos only), and other enhancements to your pictures. No free extensions will be granted. Share them with family and friends online. You can even purchase high-quality 5 x 7, 8 x 10 or wallet-sized prints; photo greeting cards; Photobooks; and other photo products for an additional cost.

To view the expiration date of a photo in your album, click to enlarge the photo. Beneath the enlarged photo, the expiration date will appear. You will receive a notification email prior to the removal of the images. Please ensure that your email address is valid and that if you use a Spam filter, that you check your Spam folder for this message. You can also add DisneyPhotoPass@ecommserv.com to your accepted email senders list to help ensure that this important email reaches you. Disney reserves the right to not upload photos which are deemed to be of poor quality and/or contain content that might be deemed to be offensive.

MouseForLess Tips:

Once you access your photos (within 30 days), you have an additional 30 days to share them before they are deleted. Be aware that photos are deleted at midnight on the day of expiration. This means the day before your expiration date is the last full day to access your photos.

New! Disney now offers an extension on your PhotoPass time for a price. A storage extension can be purchased for $4.95 for 7 days or $9.95 for 15 days. Watch the PhotoPass Special area, however, as sometimes discounts on storage extension are offered.

If you have more than one Disney's PhotoPass ID when you register, simply click the "Add another ID" to combine cards onto a single account.

Disney's PhotoPass web site keeps track of all of the PhotoPass numbers (cards) that you enter indefinitely. You can re-use a PhotoPass card from a previous vacation, but be sure you can still access the card before leaving home. And, remember that you have 30 days to log-in once you start adding new photos to claim them.

If you lose your PhotoPass card, don't worry. Disney can help you find your photos online. Just fill out a Lost PhotoPass Form online.

If you have a lot of Disney's Photopass photos, purchasing a PhotoCD online grants copyright permission to all of your photos. Print them yourself or send them to your local photo processing store (Walmart, Sam's Club, Walgreens, etc.) and save money. The copyright agreement is stored on the CD itself. You must present this agreement to your photo retailer when you create prints of your Disney's PhotoPass photos.

New! Follow PhotoPass on Facebook and Twitter. Occassionally special deals are offered just for fans!

Pre-Register Your PhotoPass Card

Those who purchase a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, either through Disney or a travel agency that books through the Walt Disney Travel Company, will receive a special card with their travel documents (pictured above). The card allows guests to register a PhotoPass account in advance and also claims by doing so you can "Save Big on photos and more". Disney's PhotoPass will also send you special offers via email BEFORE and AFTER your vacation, so if you don't get a special price on a pre-purchased PhotoCD and want to buy one, you could hold out until after your trip to see what is offered. You must give the card to a PhotoPass photographer to have park photos automatically uploaded to your pre-registered account.

Important Information About Claiming Photos: If you pre-register your PhotoPass card, you will have 30 days after the first PhotoPass photo is taken to log-in and "claim" your photos, plus an additional 30 days to enhance them and make purchases. This is printed on the pre-registered card. There is some misconception that pre-registering the card gives guests less time to claim and enhance photos because "claiming" occurs when the first photo automatically uploads to the pre-registered account. This is not correct. From the PhotoPass web site: “claiming” means either 1) adding a new Disney’s PhotoPass I.D. number to your account or 2) logging in to your account after new photos have been added to a Disney’s PhotoPass I.D. number which was already associated with your account. Thus "claiming" would fit the second condition "as specified on the card" and shouldn't start until you log-in to your account.

We suggest that you do not log-in to your pre-registered PhotoPass account until after your vacation but before 30 days of your first photo being taken. ALL PhotoPass cards, either acquired in the park or pre-registered, are equal in the amount of time available before photos are deleted as long as guests treat "adding a new park card" and "logging-in after photos are taken on the pre-registered card" as the same thing.

MouseForLess Tips:

New! When you pre-register your PhotoPass card, be sure to check the box that you would like to receive special offers. Some special offers that may be available for instance are $30-$40 off the PhotoCD.

Those who note a birthday on their reservation may receive a special Birthday PhotoPass card upon check-in at their Walt Disney World resort. The card gives a 20% off on all prints order on Disney's PhotoPass site from photos uploaded to the Birthday card. You never know what magic will happen at Disney and it always pays to note any special occasions that you may be celebrating on your reservation.

Those with Disney Visas in hand can get one free print each day they visit, and it has been reported that just by asking, you may be able to substitute the meet & greet photo for any photo on your PhotoPass. Update: We have recently received reports from guests who were unable to make substitutes during their trip. At Disneyland Resort, the Visa meet & greet locations can be found at near Monsters, Inc n the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of Disney's California Adventure. The meet & greet operates for the first hour and a half that the park is opened.

Disney gives a 40% discount on party photos but they will need to be loaded on a special holiday card. Note: The 40% discount will not be available on Holiday Photo Packages ($29.95).

Uploading your personal photos to DisneyPhotoPass.com during your park visits is easy with Visa Express Upload Service. Photos will be associated to your Disney's PhotoPass I.D. number so you can easily claim them online and use them in photo products. Note: This service does not provide long-term storage or photo archiving and you will have the usual 30 days to embellish them and use them to create Disney photo products. Available at the Main Street Bank in Disneyland park and inside Town Square Exposition Hall at Magic Kingdom park.

Disney also has a solution for your personal photo storage problems. The camera centers at the four Theme Parks are equipped with digital technology allowing guests to download their pictures from a digital media card onto a CD. For more info on Disney camera services see below.

    More About Disney's PhotoCD

A $149.95 non-discounted Disney PhotoCD can be ordered anytime after your Disney vacation as long as you log into the Disney PhotoPass web site and create an account with the special registration code located on your park PhotoPass card. Be sure to click the "Special Offers" tab first, as sometimes deals are offered on the PhotoCD that require you to use the supplied promotion code.

When you purchase a PhotoCD you will receive all the Disney PhotoPass images in your account on an archive quality CD, as well as a copyright release that allows you to reprint and use your images in the sizes and formats that you wish.

You can purchase prints of your Disney PhotoPass photos on a PhotoCD for $149.95 in the parks anywhere photos may be view (Exposition Hall in Magic Kingdom, the Camera Center at Epcot, Cover Story / The Dark Room at Disney-MGM and Garden Gate Gifts at Animal Kingdom) or at Downtown Disney Marketplace Guest Relations (between Team Mickey and Arribas Bros.) and M. Mouse Mercantile at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (2nd floor). If your PhotoCD is purchased in the parks you will not have the opportunity to add borders and enhancements to individual photos.

For Disneyland, PhotoCDs can be purchased at the park for $59.95, but these do not offer online photo enhancement. At NYC World of Disney store, a limited, non-enhancable Photo CD can be purchased for $49.95.

    MouseForLess Tips:

Share a PhotoCD by creating a PhotoPass account for an extended family or group of friends traveling together and purchasing the PhotoCD. Payment will need to be made by a single person, but everyone can contribute to the cost. Everyone in the group can access and edit their photos after the trip. The CD can then be ordered by a single person and individual photos distributed. Note: Once a Disney's PhotoPass ID is claimed into an account, it cannot be claimed again in a different account.

If you purchase a Disney Platinum Vacation Plan, a Disney PhotoCD is included. Contact Walt Disney Travel Company or a Disney specialized travel agency for more info on the Platinum plan.

A $99.95 Pre-Arrival Savings Offer for Disney's PhotoCD is made available only to guests with an upcoming stay at the Walt Disney World Resort who also have granted Disney Destinations permission to send promotional email. Eligible Guests will be sent an email from Disney Destinations approximately 45 days prior to their stay (though the timing can vary). The email contains planning information about the trip as well including a link to the offer page for the Disney's PhotoPass Pre-Arrival Savings Offer. The offer is only valid for the recipient of the email and is not transferable. The offer is only available for purchase prior to the recipient's vacation.

Disney Destination Email Update: Currently, those 1) booked directly through Disney, either online or by phone, and 2) who have granted Disney permission to receive promotional emails are receiving a special email with the subject: Disney Vacation Must Sees for the (your name) Family. This email contains the $99.95 PhotoCD Pre-Arrival Savings Offer and is exclusively for recipients of the "Magical Musts" email. Other offers are also included such as the discounted PhotoCD in combination with a Photobook or a personalized PhotoPass card, or the Ultimate Memory Package. Recipients may also purchase an individual personalize PhotoPass card for $4.95.

Eligibility Update: While those booked through DVC or a travel agency are not receiving Disney Destination emails at the present time, this discount should be available to everyone who books a Walt Disney World resort, including DVC members and travel Agency bookings. Those staying off-site or at one of the non-Disney owned hotels such as the Swan or Dolphin will not be able to purchase the Disney PhotoCD at a pre-arrival discount and will pay the full $149. If you don't receive your email or believe you should be entitled to one because you are booked at a Walt Disney World resort, try contacting PhotoPass at 407-560-4300 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET several weeks before you travel and requesting the discount. You will need to supply your WDTC reservation number. After speaking with the PhotoPass people, TheMouseForLess has learned that a solution for travel agency bookings is just days away, but there is an interim solution. Below is the official response from PhotoPass regarding those booked through a Travel Agency:

Please contact your Travel Agent and have them contact us directly with their Agent information, your reservation number, travel dates, and resort location. Once your Travel Agent provides the above information, we will forward this information and our marketing team will contact your Travel Agent directly for further assistance. Note: While the $50 discount on the PhotoPass CD is available to those booked through a travel agency, it's not the pre purchase offer. Guests will take their trip first and then use the code obtained by their travel agent to order the CD upon return. If you should decide not to buy the $99 PhotoCD after the vacation, you would simply not use the non-transferable code.

DVC member, Jeff, tells us that members who have a WDW vacation booked may also get a code for a post-vacation $50 discount simply by logging into the DVC member site and requesting one.

Give Kids the World & Make A Wish Update: The following was posted to the PhotoPass Twitter page: To all concerned about Make A Wish and Give Kids The World - we have a solution coming in days to give all families complimentary PhotoPass CDs. Families staying at Give Kids The World will receive info directly from us - no need to contact us prior to your trip. Thanks!

Pre-Order Purchasing Update: When you order a pre-arrival a Disney PhotoCD, you will be able to place the item in your cart and automatically get the discounted price if you have received the email with the link. Disney PhotoPass has updated their site with smart carts that will recognize the discount and also allow you to add other discount codes you may have.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with your PhotoPass photos (or didn't have many taken) and decide that you no longer want the pre-ordered PhotoCD, you can receive a full refund. To receive a refund, you must request it within 2 weeks after the completion of your Disney vacation and you must not have used the special promotion code from your pre-purchase email to order Disney's PhotoCD. If the promotion code has been used, a refund will not be granted.

The Disney Photographers wear a tan vest that says something about photoPass on it. Just look for the vest and make your way over to them. ~ Diane

Send your Photo CD prints Walmart, etc, to be printed. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than paying the $12.95 for a single print at Disney! My local store runs specials the week after any holiday and it's usually 3 cents for a 4 x 6 print. ~ Jan

If you only buy 6-7 prints at WDW, you will have spent as much as you would have on the PhotoCD. With the CD, you will have access to your photos forever and be able to share them with friends and family. We ended up with almost 700 photos after adding the borders to ours. I used them on Christmas cards and have them uploaded to Google Picasa so I can share them with friends and family at the click of a mouse. I am also using them to make a scrapbook of our trip. You can always buy the pre-ordered CD, and if you don't like the photos or didn't end up with that many, you are entitled to a full refund as long as you don't redeem the pre-purchase discount code. ~ Carol in Oregon

From what I hear, if you exceed the memory limit of a CD, they give you more than they give one CD for the same pre-ordered price. PhotoCD was well worth the cost to get group photos I would not have otherwise had with everyone in the picture. Plus, I have some priceless candid shots of DD with the Princesses that I am sure I never would have gotten if I was the one taking the pictures. It was nice to "enjoy the moment" with my kids and have someone else worry about the pictures. ~ Bridget

You can't fill up a card! The photos aren't stored on the card itself, so there is no space issue to worry about. The number on your card works more or less as a file number - when you enter it online, all of the pictures associated with that number will show up. It doesn't matter if you have 5 cards with 25 photos each or 1 card with 400 photos. If you leave your card in the room or one person wanders off with it, you can just get another. You can have as many cards as you need or want. If you're going to one of the seasonal Magic Kingdom parties, they often have special PhotPass cards that make great keepsakes. I get those whether I need them or not.

The fun part on line is adding the embellishments. You can add Mickey's signature that says something like "Your Pal Mickey" or Minnie's that says "Hugs and Kisses". All of the characters have special signatures. With the flower power at Epcot there are characters you can add to the lower right of the picture. The dated ones have the characters coming out of the numbers. It is a lot of fun.
