Castaway Cay

All day Snorkel Rental at Castaway Cay

Submitted by: The Weber Family

What Port: Castaway Cay

Which Shore Excursion: All Day Snorkel Rental

When: March 27, 2004

The cost of the Shore Excursion: $25/person - $100 for the 4 of us

How was the excursion booked: Booked through Disney Cruise Line

On a scale from 1-5, 5 being best:

Did the adults enjoy this: 4
Did the children enjoy this: 2

Description of the excursion: All day rental of fins, masks and snorkels

Extra comments and suggestions: The trail is really cool if you get everyone all the way out there. If children are new to snorkeling, practice at home first. They never seemed to come close to running out of gear, so wait and rent on shore. It was kinda chilly which made it less enjoyable. I had a hard time getting my mask to fit where it did not leak.

To be dollarless you can bring your own gear. The down side is bigger, heavier, sandier luggage.

Cozumel

Chanukab Sea Lion Discovery

Submitted by: Disneydede

What Port: Cozumel

When: May 12, 2004

The cost of the Shore Excursion: $42

How was the excursion booked: Booked through Disney Cruise Line

On a scale from 1-5, 5 being best:

Did the adults enjoy this: 2
Did the children enjoy this: 3

Description of the excursion: you met on the pier and then had quite a walk across the pier, then up an escalator, down another escalator, and picked up a taxi (included) it took you to chanukab park about 10 miles away to a sea lion show.

Extra comments and suggestions: These might include likes or dislikes about the
excursion, advice for getting there, or anything you may not have been able to add elsewhere. I was really disappointed in this shore excursion. For one thing was never told there was a beach there, till we showed up at the lounge and they handed us a towel, so we never took our swimsuits. It was very disorganized, they gave us a blue wristband on the pier and started out. We fell behind and they didn't even notice we were missing. If we hadnt seen someone on the escalator with a wristband, we would have been lost. Got to the other side, they said the taxis would only take 4 people so we had to ride with two strangers. When we got to the park, about 1:30, they said we were going to a sea lion show at 1:45 and  they told us we had the option of leaving after that if we came back out front, but we had to get a taxi voucher from this certain woman at 2:30.. and the taxis left on the half hour, 2:30, 3:30 etc. but you had to pick up your taxi voucher by 5:30 pm or pay yourself to go back. The show was pretty lame. It only lasted from 1:45 til about 2:15 and it was on HOT open bleachers with very little shade. They said if you wanted to use their bathhouse, it would cost $3. Tamara enjoyed it because she got kissed by a sea lion, and I did get that on tape. We decided not to stay because of the heat, went out and there were about 40 people waiting to leave.. and the taxi lady was nowhere in sight. Nobody there seemed to know what to do. She came out about 2:28 pm and did issue the vouchers for us to return. I felt it was very expensive for a very short show.My only suggestion is when you get back to  the pier, they have these people who work for tips with a bicycle and a built in bench seat that would take you back to the ship. It was worth it not to walk.

Grand Cayman

Atlantis Submarine

Submitted by: Disneydede

What Port: Grand Cayman

When: May 11, 2004

The cost of the Shore Excursion: $75 per person

How was the excursion booked: Booked through Disney Cruise Line

On a scale from 1-5, 5 being best:

Did the adults enjoy this: 5
Did the children enjoy this: 5

Description of the excursion: You get off the tender at grand cayman and the atlantis booth is right nearby. There is a restroom right by the tender booth. Be sure to use it, as there is none at the submarine. They take you on a small boat out to the submarine, and then you take a 50 minute submarine ride.Ours went 107 ft deep and see lots of fish and marine life.

Extra comments and suggestions: These might include likes or dislikes about the
excursion, advice for getting there, or anything you may not have been able to add elsewhere. This excursion is kind of expensive considering the time, but I considered it once in a lifetime experience for our family. I know there was some people wondering if the submarine hole would be big enough for "fluffy" people. It is plenty big. I would say it was about 3-4 feet across. There is a set of about 8 or so steep  steps to go in it. but there are hand rails and they stand at the bottom to guide you. The inside has individual seats and windows. It was very interesting and we seen alot of sea life. We all enjoyed this.

Key West

Western Schooner Day Sail

Submitted by: Disneydede

What Port: Key West

When: May 9, 2004

The cost of the Shore Excursion: $42 per person

How was the excursion booked: Booked through Disney Cruise Line

On a scale from 1-5, 5 being best:

Did the adults enjoy this: 4
Did the children enjoy this: 4

Description of the excursion: they took you out on a big sailboat. you could help hoist the sails if you wanted. It was very pleasant. Lasted about 2 hours.

Extra comments and suggestions: These might include likes or dislikes about the
excursion, advice for getting there, or anything you may not have been able to add elsewhere. It was a walk from the pier to get to a bus that took you to the site where the schooner was. The only drawback to this excursion is the restroom is down in the bottom and you have to climb a very straight stairway to get to it. (almost like a ladder) It has complimentary soda, drinks, and ice cream, It would be inaccessible to a wheelchair. It didn't really have seats, only benches you could sit on, and not really enough for all the people.
