Tomorrowland Indy Speedway -- 3/26/02

Howdy folks- sorry I missed ya'll last week- I was sick, the dog chewed up my homework and the sun was in my eyes. Yea- that's the ticket!

Ok- back to work! Today we begin looking at the last "land" in the Magic Kingdom- Tomorrowland! Always a place of adventure, this one is my favorite so I saved the best for last!

The first attraction we come to on leaving our stomachs behind at the Teacups, is the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. Every little's dream of driving comes true here on the Speedway-if they are at least 52 inches tall. If not, a grownup has to accompany them. There are no driver's licenses required, though, and the cars are really nifty. You speed around the track in the open cars with the wind whipping through your hair. There are hills and straightways, and traffic jams! The car is propelled and steered by the driver, but there is a track to keep it in bounds and the top speed is only around 5 miles an hour. (Don't quote me on the speed- I don't know for sure- that's a "feels like" speed). There are stands for those who prefer to just watch, covered over and fairly shady. Be warned- this ride, though it does have fast pass, is never fast to board. The stand by line can be as long as 2 hours, and the fast pass can be over 30 minutes. This is a VERY popular attraction. I must confess, I have ridden it without the excuse of my child along!

Next time- the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, or as I still call it- the WEDWay People Mover. Trivia question for you- who knows what the WED in WEDWay stood for?
