Disney MGM Studios - One Man's Dream, Mickey Avenue -- 01/21/03
Today we head down Mickey Avenue. On this road (right behind the Great Movie Ride you will first run across One Man's Dream. This is a new exhibit that opened in conjunction with the 100 Years of Magic Celebration. It is an exploration of Walt Disney's life and accomplishments and those of the animation team he built. It is nothing short of amazing what this man did. Any and all Diz-philes will want to spend literal hours here reading every work and absorbing all the eye candy. There are hundreds of items of memorabilia on display. My favorite is the part dealing with the Mickey Mouse club show. Some of these things have never been available to the public before.
The gallery had some interactive displays and includes a short film at the end which talks about Walt's life and some of the hardships he endured. It also has some never-before-seen footage of interviews with Walt, himself. Some of the neat stuff on display some of us might remember from the Walt Disney Story that used to be on Main Street- the Oscar for Snow White, for example. There are also some stuff I had never seen, like his school desk from Marceline, MO- on which he carved his initials.
This is a walkthrough and takes a minimum of about 15 minutes ,plus the film at the end which is another 15 minutes. I spent a good hour here. A fun thing is the trivia quiz that you can take - get it all right and they will give you a certificate! Just ask the CM on duty. There are translator defices as assisted hearing devices available for this attraction and it is fully wheel chair accessable.
This is a don't miss on our list
Until next week-
