It's a Small World -- 1/15/02
Photos by Margaret

OK- I hate it but I guess I have to do it. I mean, it's not really as bad as all that......I guess. No, really. I don't want to scare the newbies away. It's just that, well, the dreaded Doll Museum gives me the creeps!!! And that song!!! That song is a lethal weapon! I swear Disney has it registered with some law enforcement agency as an instrument of torture.....
Ok- If you haven't guessed by now, today's subject is the ride just across the way from Peter Pan- It's A Small World. Admittedly, I have had enough of this one and will not miss it when it is gone. However, those of you who haven't seen it really, truly must. Just once. If you go more than once, that song will stick in your head and you will go slowly insane....but I digress.

This is a boat ride originally done for the New York world's fair in 1964-65. Littles like it very much and the dolls are very prettily dressed in the costumes traditional to the countries they represent. The dancing dolls. The staring, dancing dolls...
oops- there I go again! Sorry.
This attraction is 10 minutes long, so it can be relaxing, if you can handle having the same 8 bars of music sung over and over in about a hundred different languages. Frankly, the sound isn't good enough to really distinctly hear some of them and you really just get the music looped over and over and over and over.....

OK- I can't do it- I just can't do it!!! Go once if you haven't been, return if you enjoy it, but if you want to keep sane, run away, run far, far away!!!!
My family uses this attraction as a threat to get our kids to behave.
Me-"Jessie, if you whine one more time, we're riding Small World!"
Jessie-"NOOOOOOO!!! You're mean, Mommy!"
With tongue firmly in cheek-
See you next week.
