Ask Pam -- 7/23/03

Angie Writes:

A question from sunny old England. I have 2 children 1 aged 11 (girl) 1 aged 15(boy), the problem being when we went in 1996 the kids didn't mind sleeping together, but now no way! Do any of the Disney hotels have bunkbeds and 1 double instead of the 2 doubles that I have seen.
Many thanks

Pam Responds:

There are two resorts that have bunk beds instead of the 2 beds. The Wilderness Lodge has rooms that include one queen bed and a set of bunk beds. This would be perfect of your family. The Animal Kingdom Lodge also has this option. These are both deluxe resorts, and have some of the best theming on Disney property. IMHO.

Also, all the other deluxe resorts have rooms that are configured with 2 queen beds and a full size day bed. One of your children could always take the day bed, while the other has the queen bed. The Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn all have this option available.

The Swan and Dolphin resorts will bring you a roll-away bed so that is an option that would also solve your problem. These aren't Disney run hotels but are on Disney property.

Another option would be the cabins at Ft. Wilderness, which have a pull down Murphy bed, a double bed in the bedroom, and bunk beds in the bedroom as well.

The Disney Vacation Club resorts each have villas with 2 bedrooms. The second bedroom has 2 beds or a bed and a pull out sofa. The 2 bedroom villas can be expensive though.

Finally, many resorts have suites with different bed configurations, but these would be more expensive than the options I mentioned above.

Port Orleans has rooms that have a trundle bed in addition to the two double beds, but the trundle is only intended for small children (9 and under). This would not be comfortable for your children.

Good Luck!! I hope you find a resort that works for you, and I hope you have a wonderful vacation.
