Trip Planning > Ask Pam > Early Morning at the Polynesian Resort

Ask Pam -- 2/12/02

A MFL Member Asks:

We are planning our first family trip to Disney World for March 2003. We are very excited. My husband is the original "early bird". We are staying on site at the Poly. and I am wondering where the early risers find their coffee and hang out. Any ideas?

Pam Responds:

Congratulations on your first trip-be careful because one trip can lead to another, and another, and another.... LOL

There is no better place to be an early bird, then in Disney World. It's amazing how quiet even the busiest resort can be in the morning. It's great to be up early and see the resort come alive.

The place for early risers to get coffee is Captain Cooks located in the Great Ceremonial House at the Polynesian Resort. This counter service restaurant is open 24 hours a day, but the "grill" does close in the evening. You can find snacks, pre-made sandwiches, breakfast fare, fruit, drinks, desserts and an assortment of snacks 24 hours a day. Once the grill opens, you can get burgers, and a few specialty sandwiches and pizza and other hot items.

Captain Cooks also happens to be the place to get your refillable mugs at the Polynesian. For approximately $11 you can purchase a mug and get free refills for the rest of your stay. You can fill your refillable mug with soda, coffee, tea, iced tea and hot chocolate.

Once you get your coffee, you could head to the beach where you can grab a swing and gaze at the castle. Or you may want to hang out around the pool where you could sit at a table and soak up the atmosphere. You could also just hang out in the beautiful lobby and listed to the waterfall. If you are lucky enough to have your own balcony or patio, you may be content to just stay put.

You don't have to look far to find a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. The Polynesian is full of wonderful spots, and I'm sure you will find a spot to call your own.

Have a wonderful trip-enjoy the Polynesian and Aloha!!!
