Tips on Tipping
By Wendi P. - May 21, 2001
I just returned from Disney World, and had a marvelous time there. One thing was eating at me, though. Tipping - I felt so unprepared and inadequate. I decided right then and there that my next submission to this column would be a guide to tipping.
Here, compiled from various sources in my home library and the internet, I present to you my "Tips on Tipping"
Limousine Driver
20% of the bill, or 10% per one way segment in case you do not get the same driver.
At the Airport
Baggage Handler $1.00 or more per bag
Wheelchair $3.00 - $5.00 or more, depending on difficulty
Electric Cart Transportation $1.00 - $2.00
Buffet Restaurants
5% - 10% of the bill, depending on level of service.
Full Service Restaurant
15% - 20% or more of PRETAX total - do not tip on the tax.
Wine Steward
15% of wine bill if you use this service. Otherwise, just add the tip to the dining portion of the bill
Bartender
10% - 15% of the bar tab
Room Service
15% of food bill. Note: The 18% Service Fee is NOT the tip
Massage
10% of bill - 20% for exceptional service
Taxi
15% of fare, not less than 25 cents
Hotel Maid
$1.00 person per night (Note: the original figure posted by the author has been ammended by the MFL web site editor)

$5.00 for opening and showing the room.
