Festival Of The Masters

November 12-14, 2004

This is a little known specialty event and a wonderful find, especially for the adult travelers or one in need of a little get-a-way from the typical WDW vacation.

Festival of the Masters is an annual art show that is held in the Downtown Disney Westside area. It is outdoors and is set up like your typical art show. The vendors are in individual tents or booths, while the patrons walk around enjoying the art.

The artists are from all over, but it seemed mostly from Florida. There was everything from jewlery and painting, photography and woodwork, and sculpture to the VERY unusual.

All the art is for sale. The art was reasonably priced, though there is a wide range. Surprisingly, many of the artists offered free shipping with purchase (nice for the vacationer). Also, many offered picture art with our with frames- again nice for someone having to consider transporting the art back home.

The art/artists have also been judged. It is fun to compare your favorites with that of the judges!

There is an opportunity for you (or your kids) to try your hand at drawing a Disney favorite. The Festival folks have a table set up with an animator giving direction on how to draw a character. Everyone gets to try! It is throughout the day, every half hour, with a different character featured every hour.

It was a lovely change from the hustle and bustle of a park visit. We very much enjoyed the Festival and would suggest making it part of your visit next year.

BTW- we DID buy something....a lovely photo set of the same home in all 4 seasons.
