So far, Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have had reservations to be able to enter the land. But beginning June 24, the land is open for any and all Guests; no reservation will be required. However, Disney doesn’t want the land to become gridlocked with Guests, nor do they want people waiting in hours long lines just to enter the land. That’s where their virtual queuing system comes into play.
Beginning June 24, Guests who wish to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will need to obtain a boarding pass. In order to do so, you should download the Disneyland app prior to visiting the park. When you arrive for the day, you’ll need to check the app or signage that can be found around the park to see if you will need to join a boarding group to visit the land.
Those who enter these boarding groups will be saved a virtual spot in line so that other experiences can be enjoyed while you wait to be notified of a time to enter the land. Guests looking to request to enter a boarding group will need to use the Disneyland app to request to join one of these groups but only after entering Disneyland park and that is if the virtual queuing system is being utilized that particular day.
In order to obtain your boarding pass, you’ll need to link the theme park tickets of everyone in your party together on the app, that way you will be able to request the same boarding group for your entire party. Push notifications should also be enabled on your phone, that way you will be notified when it is time to enter the land. Those who don’t enable push notifications will need to continually check the Disneyland app or digital signage found in the park. Once your boarding pass window opens, Guests will have up to two hours to enter the land.
For guests not using the Disneyland app, a boarding group may be obtained with a park admission ticket at select Disney FASTPASS locations such as Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain or near the Matterhorn Bobsleds.
Take a look at this video for the details of how you’ll be able to obtain a boarding pass, step by step:
Also beginning on June 24, thanks to the massive lines that have occurred during the reservation period, a reservation will be required in order to enter Oga’s Cantina or Savi’s Workshop (where you will create your lightsaber.)
Guests wishing to book a reservation for either of these experiences may do so on the same day of their visit, beginning at 7:00 a.m. and they will need a valid credit card to do so. These reservations for both experiences will allow access into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the time of the reservation, so those with reservations won’t need to join a boarding group to enter the land. Please visit Disneyland.com/SavisWorkshop and Disneyland.com/Cantina to be able to make your reservations for either of these experiences.
