MagicBand+ Debuts at Disneyland Resort on October 26

MagicBand+ Debuts Disneyland Oct. 26

Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort have been able to use MagicBand+ for a while. But it had been recently announced that it would also be debuting sometime this fall at the Disneyland Resort.

Well, we now have a DATE for when MagicBand+ will debut on the West Coast. The wearable technology will officially launch at the Disneyland Resort on October 26, 2022. However, if you are an eligible Cast Members, Magic Key holders and Disney Vacation Club members, you will have the opportunity to be among the first to purchase MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort from select locations. You’ll also get a first look at its features before the official launch! These Guests will be able to purchase their MagicBand+ starting October 19. To purchase, you must present a valid photo ID plus a valid company-issued ID, Disney Vacation Club membership or Magic Key pass.

How Does MagicBand+ Work?

MagicBand+ will provide seamless and hands-free convenience during your visit. With a tap of your band, you’ll be able to enter the Disneyland Resort theme parks, easily check in at Lightning Lane entrances, and link photos from a Disney PhotoPass photographer to your Disney account. MagicBand+ will also come alive with color-changing LED lights and haptic vibrations during select park experiences and entertainment. One place you might discover some of these magical touches is in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure!

Then, in the evening, MagicBand+ will dance along with nighttime spectaculars. It will illuminate and pulse in sync during “World of Color” in Disney California Adventure, “Fantasmic!” in Disneyland  and other select nighttime shows throughout the year. For example, when they debut on January 27, 2023, it will also interact with “World of Color – One” at Disney California Adventure and “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland.

Another place where MagicBand+ will come in handy is at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. Here, you’ll be able to use the wearable to seek virtual bounties hidden across Black Spire Outpost in the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. Then, when you find your bounty, you can use the Play Disney Parks app’s augmented reality thermal viewer to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows.

You can use MagicBand+ at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, with varying features and experiences between the two destinations.
