The Making of a Disney Chest - by Lindsay St.Onge

We have a rather old (late 70s) bureau made out of fake wood with gold accents. Blech. We used this dresser for the kids clothes. It was in pretty rough condition, so I decided to paint it.

Because the way the drawers look I got creative and painted them to look like trunks. The very top "trunk" I made to look like it had traveled to various places (rather difficult being purple and all). I had an Epcot Passport book that was all stamped and I ripped out the pages and stained them in tea to give them a worn look. After they had dried I polyurathened them to the top of the painted "trunk". I had ripped some of them and kind of placed them anywhere (no pattern). The only problem I ran into was that if I had left any of the stickers on (and of course most of them had them to add color), I had to add alot of poly, because they wouldn't lay down flat.

I then cut out that little circle on the front of the book (the one with Mickey in the middle and flags all around him) and also poly'ed it to the center of the "trunk".

I tried to paint the trunk to match the kids' room which is blue-ish purple and green and to keep each "trunk" different. I also painted a few hidden mickeys on it. :)
