First Memorable Disney Magical Moments

My family and I have been visiting Disney World for years now. From the time that it was just me and my mom and dad (28 years ago) to the time my aunt and her grandkids and my godchild and her bestfriend came with me(3 years ago). That latter trip was one of my favorites and most memorable. My aunt's teenage grandchild had been very cool throughout the entire trip. Everything was "no big deal". Then one night, we went walking on the Boardwalk and was able to see IllumiNations at Epcot. Well, on the way back, as we're walking along the lighted bridge back to our hotel Courtni just burst out and says "I wish I could live here". We all just looked around at each other and didn't say a word (lest we remind her that she's too cool to enjoy DW). Needless to say, her trip (as well as ours) took on a whole new meaning. -- Tamara

My first trip to WDW was in 1974-I was five years old, and I still remember so much of it. I know there is an element of remembering past events because you see photographs of the event-but I remember things that weren't in the photos and aren't still there. ;)

We stayed at the Contemporary, and wow I was sooo excited. The monorail was amazing, and I still remember all the topiaries that you used to be able to see from the monorail. We had dinner one night at the Polynesian-I had spare ribs, my uncle had duck.

My family spent a week there-and the only thing we saw was the magic Kingdom!!! Every experience was an incredible new adventure from the Jungle cruise to tomorrowland. It all was wonderful.

My family actually traveled to WDW quite a few times as I was growing up-but that first trip as a child brings back so many incredible memories.

My parents took a great picture of me sitting on those dark lava rocks with the Adventureland sign behind me. I realized we had taken a picture of DD at the very same spot on one of our trips, and I had copy of both photos placed in a frame for DH. He said it's great to see that picture of both of us because we both have the same expression-pure joy LOL. -- Pam Forrester

My first truly memorable Disney moment was when I got bitten by the Disney Bug, and you'd never guess when... It was at the orientation for working at DL in the summer of 1984!

My parents had taken my brother and I to DL when I was 10, but for some silly reason, perhaps because they didn't think DL was a big deal, I had no special memory of that trip. The only reason I "remember" going to DL was because of the pictures proving that I was there. Though we lived less than 20 min. from DL, revisiting DL did not enter our minds for years. At 18 my friends and I read a recruitment ad from Disney at our school and decided to apply for jobs there. All three of us applied and was able to get hired, thus the "Three Musketeers" became "Three Mouseketeers". The full impact of the "Happiest Place on Earth" hit me when I went through the orientation. For the whole day we were given a tour of DL, told the fundamentals of DL, what was expected of us, the benefits, etc. The class room lecture already got me excited and happy for choosing to apply for Disney, the tour of the park etched Disney in my mind and heart forever. During the tour I looked at all the people around, not through the eyes of a teenager who was just interested in getting the most rides out of the day, but through the eyes of one observing the reactions of Disney attendees. Everywhere I turned I saw people with gleams in their eyes and smiles on their faces. I looked around and listened to all the details placed into every inch of the park, and I silently said "WOW!!!!" as my love affair with Disney began and never stopped :-)

There were many, almost countless magical memories at DL/WDW since that first magical moment. My Dh and I even met each other while we both worked at DL. Just think...'it all started with a job... I mean 'mouse' :-P'" -- Linda S.

We took our son to dl in 99 and he was really to young to understand what was going on.. we took him to wdw last year and i think the best memmory i could ever have was when we walked in and stood on mainstreet infront of the train station looking at the castle for my sons first time.. i cried and cried (of course it didnt help i was pregnant either gotta love those hormones) i will never forget the look on his face! priceless! -- Christina

Memories....light the corners of my mind.....There aren't many childhood memories that can campare to a Disney memory is there? The first time my parents, sister and myself , along with my grandparents went to WDW it was the summer of 1972. We stayed at FW and my dad became so sick (food poisoning-from his Aunt's house-not WDW) that the ambulance came right up to our camper and picked him up. The next day my mom took us into the MK (she didn't want us worried about dad and my grandparents were with him at the hospital) and at the end of the day - I can still remember me and my sister (8 and 4) walking down Main Street with the biggest stuffed Mickey (my sister loves the mouse!) and Pluto (he's my favorite!) Disney sold!! And yes, we still have them and we are now in our 30's. My dad became much better after a day and when he got back to FW he was quite surprised when he saw our gifts. Somehow, I don't believe we would have gotten them if he was with us that day. He is very frugal and this would not have been a "dollarless" purchase! LOL!! But, Mom knew her daughters well! I think I'll call my mom and thank her for the wonderful memories! -- Yvonne

My first Disney memory is when my little sister was born. My Mom was in the hospital having her & my Dad took us to see Bambi. My Dad had his own business & we didn't get to see a lot of him except on Sundays. So him spending the time with us while Mom was in the hospital, meant a lot to us. He's a fun loving guy who tells the corniest jokes. Because this time was so special to us, Disney has always been associated with it. -- Karla

My first Disney memory also involves Bambi. I know that I had seen the movie, but I don't remember that much about the outting to see the movie. But when I was 6 years old I had the big red measles and became VERY sick. I developed croup on top of the measles and could not breath. I was rushed to the hospital and placed into an oxygen tent for three/four days. I was miserable, cold on one side, hot on the other, and itching with the spots. (In the old days, 1957, oxygen tents had cold oxygen blowing in one side and a heated humidifier on the other side.) My Daddy came into the room on the second day with a big picture book for me. It was a Bambi book. I loved that book and it comforted me in the oxygen tent like nothing else could have. This was forty-five years ago and I remember how I loved that book. -- Bianca
