Magical Moments

I got married there! Isn't that Pixie Dust enough? ;)

Here are some of the pixie dust Disney sprinkled on us during our trip:

We got a free upgrade to a Junior Suite at Coronado Springs! At CS, we also got a congratulations certificate for free champagne, and the CMs at the Pool Bar also gave us free drinks as a way of congratulating us.

While watching the Magical Moments Parade in the MK, John accidentally sat in bubblegum. Neither of us noticed till a few hours later, and by then there was no hope of easily getting it out. John asked a CM if she knew how to remove bubblegum from shorts, and she gave John a certificate for a free pair of shorts anywhere on Disney property! -- ((hugs)) Michelle

In 1991, my parents, my sister and I stayed at the Grand Floridian on the Grand Plan. Well, the people who were in the room we wanted decided to extend their trip. So we got a complimentary upgrade to a suite! It was great - way more room than we needed. We now had 2 bathrooms, which is great when you have 2 college aged girls! One day, one of the toilets backed up. No biggie, we had another one. But we called housekeeping and told them. When we came home from our day at the parks, our toilet was fixed, and there was a box of Twining's Teas on our coffee table (tea on coffee table, that's something - LOL) with a handwritten note from the housekeeping manager thanking us for our patience. -- Mary Ellen

My mother died last year however, I have wonderful memories of her and the times we spent at Disney. The most magical time of all was a couple of years before she died. She was very ill but wanted to go to Disney. We went to the Polynesian Hawaiian Luau. Just before you enter the show area they have one of the performers demonstrate how the grass skirts and instruments are made. Several children got up to try on the skirts, my mom said that she wished that she could try one on. As everyone was going into the show I walked up to the performer and asked if my mother could try on the skirt. He said that of course she could but that he would have to hold it because they were made for children. Mom got up, tried on the skirt and we took pictures of him showing her how to dance. Later on while he was performing, he would always come by the table and smile at her. Mom was thrilled but the highlight was when he brought her up on the stage to dance with him. She came back to the table and asked me, "did I shake"? We could not stop laughing and she could not stop talking about it. As we were leaving., he came over and gave her a hug. She lost her sight shortly after we got home and could only see blurs. She treasured her photos of that evening and could only look at it under a special machine we had brought her.

Last year my daughter and I went to WDW and had dinner at O'hana's. My daughter thought that she saw the person that had made my mother's evening at Disney so special. When he passed our table, my daughter stopped him and asked if he had ever danced in the Luau. He said that he had until the year before now he worked at O'hana's. We told him that my mother had died the year before but that he had given her a special memory that she had always treasured. We went on to explain what he had done. He said that he did not remember the evening however, he was very happy that he had been able to give my mother those wonderful memories. Then he said, I believe that it was meant to be. I said "why", and he said,"look at my name tag". My daughter and I hugged him and we all laughed together....His name is, ANGEL --- Louise

Our Magical Moments:
December 2001 - Jenny's 5th Birthday Vacation
There were so many, where shall I start? This was my first trip to DisneyWorld (41 years young!) and my daughter's 5th birthday (her first trip too!) .1. While watching the Cinderella Surprise Celebration on the Castle Stage on a beautiful sunny day, I realized "I was finally here"! Over a year of planning - and there "she" was in front of me with her Prince and I had my little Cinderella in the stroller - I cried. I don't mean to slight Mickey or Minnie, but Cinderella is my favorite! 2. Or, when the gates would go up and the kids would say "Pixie dust" - the bus driver told them the pixie dust opened the gates. 3. Or, getting a 2nd floor terrace table at the Rose & Crown an hour before Illuminations and the kids were great for dinner and all the waiting - of course, they were the "best" fireworks of the vacation. 4. Or, when we left the WL after having a wonderful impromptu birthday dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and it was 9 pm. The lagoon fireworks started going off and I told my daughter that Mickey put on the fireworks for her. 5. Or, my daughter laughing about how Goofy didn't know her name when he sang the birthday song to her on the phone in our hotel room. 6. Or, my son's (7 yrs old - first time too!)first question EVERYDAY - "When are we going in the Volcano pool"? - We stayed at the Polynesian for 8 nights and went in the pool almost everyday in early December. One day he was barely awake and he said "I have only one question - where are the lifejackets"? He liked wearing the lifejacket to come down the slide that goes thru the Volcano in the pool. 7. Or, my daughter's face when she got to see Cinderella up close and get her autograph for the first time. 8. Or, in Cinderella's Castle at the Royal Table Character Breakfast (yes, I smiled and dialed for this one!) when my daughter saw Jasmine for the first time and was mesmorized by her. She played with the jewels on Jasmine's costume when she came over to our table. 9. Or, hearing my daughter say "Let's do that, again! after jumping off Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, Peter Pan and It's a small world. Thank goodness we went in the off-season. We did run around and do it again and again! 10. And, or course, our last walk down Main Street and not wanting to leave because the bubble machine was making snowflakes and the air was warm and we had just ridden Barnstormer two times in a row and seen Cinderella one last time at Toontown Fair! It was our first vacation to DisneyWorld and it was FILLED with Magical Moments! GOING BACK IN JUNE 2002! Can't wait! -- Debbie Benedict
