My magical moment occurred on August 25,2001. After waiting 3 yrs for my DD to be "big enough" (by my DH Standards) and scrimping and saving for a year our big day was here........It was a beautiful sunny day. We were enticed out of bed by a call from Mickey Mouse to wake up at 7:30 am. We threw our clothes on and hurried down to the food court at ALSMO for coffee and juice to get us going.
We strolled outside around 8 to catch a bus to the MK. The whole ride over my daughter wiggled and giggled and chanted "I can't wait, I can't wait." OK, I'll admit, Mom did too. The bus pulls up and we race off the bus hearts pounding to the turnstiles. We have a PS for CRT at 9 am and were anxiously waiting at 8:15 and the cm told us it was still too early to let us in. So we wait, and we wait,
and we wait for an eternity. OK, it was only 15 minutes but when your dream is in reach, time drags by. Promptly at 8:30 the same CM waves us over again and says "It's still a little early, but I just can't stand here and watch you suffer. So go on, and I hope you have a magical day." We all stammered a Thank you and my DD hugged her with all the strength her little arms could muster. My DH
insists on stopping to get a stroller 1st...UGH, come on, hurry up! And then it happens........The sky is blue, the music is playing, and there it is the most beautiful building in the world (to me) ...Cinderella Castle, standing regally at the end of Main Street. I have tears in my eyes and look over at my 3 Year old DD. Her eyes widen, her hand covers her mouth and she whispers "WOW!" She
sweeps her hat off and points to the castle with an awestruck expression on her face. "Its so beautiful" I look at my DH who all along I've had to convince to come and he's crying. I start crying and we give a big group hug and set off down the street to Zippety Do Dah and our date with the princesses. That's my magical moment and I will treasure the memory of that day forever and I was lucky enough to get photos so I could share this with our family also. And 41 weeks and 5 days later (2 days early) we welcomed Kayleigh Aurora Sumner into our lives. So not only did I have a magical moment but I brought a little bit of the magic home with me, and now I have a living reminder of that day. (Well. of that night anyway, hehe) -- Kristen
On our first trip to Disney as a family of four my DD was 4 and my DS was 2. My daughter had always loved Peter Pan best out of any of the
Disney movies, etc. Well our magical moment had to do with Peter and his friends. During the afternoon parade we sat along mainstreet and
Wendy whom DD loves decides to hide from Captain Hook right behind her and the little girl next to her. Then later in the day after the
Cinderella show in front of the castle(older show), Peter was chasing Captain Hook. We were the only family behind the castle during the
show because we were leaving for the day. My dd was just getting finished talking all about Peter, Wendy, etc., when all of a sudden we
walked almost right into Peter!! He was running around the back of the castle. I knew he was chasing Captain Hook but dd yelled "hi, Peter!!"
He actually stopped and said hello, then waved and kept on going. I thought that was just a perfect magical moment. -- Barb
I've gone to DL or WDW once or twice a year for my entire life as I lived in So. Cal. and my grandparents lived in FL.
Anyway, oddly enough, my "magic moment" didn't occur until two years ago and it was because of my 2nd DS.
We went the total "bargain" trip two years ago. We really "couldn't" afford to go, but the stars aligned in such a way. We had free lodging and the ability to visit with "nana and papa". We had time off available. We were able to drive down and back. You get the idea. We spent only two days in the parks, and one day playing in DTD and going to a character breakfast. We went to Chef Mickey, in large part because our DS2 wanted to see Donald Duck. Of all the characters to "connect" with, that's who he wanted to see! Well, Donald wasn't at Chef Mickey. Nor did we see him at AK, or EPCOT when we were park hopping. We finally went to the character area in MK and I had an opportunity to talk with the cast member there. Apparently, "catching" Donald is pretty hard. Not one of the most popular characters, so more limited availability. My DS was heartbroken, he had been like that little boy in the WDW commercial "where's mickey, where's mickey" except with Donald.
Well, while we were in line with my DD for the Princesses, the CM made some calls. She said "Donald will be in the parade this afternoon. Be at such and such place right after the parade and a CM will grab you and you can see Donald." We didn't tell my DS, because they very specifically said not to talk about it to anyone, otherwise they wouldn't be able to get him in there without a mob and wouldn't be able to do it. Guess what happens then? Basically a monsoon! It was pouring so hard, standing water everywhere and for once it was a colder rain! They cancelled the parade!
We camped out (in the rain) at the place they told us to. Just in case they still were able to do it. And sure enough, Donald got all suited up just to see my guy! We were able to take a number of pic's, and DS was able to hug Donald, and tell him why he's his favorite, etc.
I still get a bit teary eyed when I think about it. Knowing how terribly upset he was, and then the look on his face when we rounded the corner and there was Donald just for him! Wow! Disney Magic for sure!!! -- Michelle
First time we ( me, dh, and dd,5 at the time ) wen`t to Disney World we did not know want to expect since we never had been to neighter Disney or America before ( We are from Norway ) We where all very exited.
First of all we where "swept off our feet" by the kindness of all the American people we met, and then we came to Disney World the place we had dreamed of, and this was our " once in a lifetime trip" and something happened that made our trip extra special.
We did not know about Ps at that time, and with the crowd in July we did not expet to get a table for Lunch at Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom when we found out that they had carater dining with Pooh ( one of my daughters favorite caracter at that time ) We wen`t to the restaurant and the Lady said that there had been a cancelation, and we could have a table in an hour.
When we came back an hour later, we where called in, and when we came inside we where told that our daughter was selected "A chèf for the day " . She was given a picture taken of her with Pooh and the gang, a certificat with all the signatures, and a cupcace with sprinkles to decorate. Pooh gave her the whole box with sprincles and took them over her cake. It was a true Magical moment to see my daughters face, she did not know if she should Laught or cry, and it will be in my memory forever.
PS: We fall in Love with Disney, and the kindness and warmth of the American people, so we can`t stop going there. This July it will be our 4th trip since 2001. -- Adèle Marie
