Well, this year I was a little selfish. I wanted to go to a World Day meet. There has been one in Minnesota for the last 2 or 3 years but they were in December and I could never make it because in my family, there is a birthday every weekend from Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas. So, this year I talked to my MN MFL friends to see if we could do a PRE World Day Meet. They all agreed! Yea! We emailed back and forth to try and pick a day that EVERYONE could meet. We finally had to settle for almost everyone. Connie Norman, our MN Disney Store Cast Member was not able to make it. Also, Melissa (happyinspring), who was at the last several World Day meets with Mic, she couldn’t make it either, but everyone else was able to be there.

We decided on Sunday November 18th at 2:00. Mic is a RFC Club member so she made reservations for us at the RFC for a late lunch.

I got our banner from Wendy in the mail with a beautiful postcard of The Castle Durham that was built in 1100 AD! Wendy said it was about 10 minutes from where she lives.

Now all I had to do was wait…

This past summer was a tough one for my DH. He had angioplasty in June, a gallbladder procedure with a weeks stay in the hospital in the middle of August, and gastric bypass/gallbladder removal surgery on August 30th. During all this one of my MN MFL buddies, Cheryl Larson, was very supportive. She emailed me almost daily to see how we were all doing and helped me keep my spirits up and remember to take care of myself also. We also became pretty good friendsJ. So when the World Day meet plans were made, she and I decided to meet a little early so we could get to know each other in personJ.

The day of the meet was finally here! Cheryl lives quite a bit further than I do from the Mall of America which is where the Rain Forrest Café is. She called me just as I was leaving my house to see if I remembered my camera, I did.

We met at the bottom of the escalator that is pretty much in front of the RFC restaurant. It was like we knew what each other looked like. I got off the bottom and we saw each other and she said “Missy” at the same time I said “Cheryl”. It was pretty funny.

We went off to the Disney Store to look around. I bought a leather Minnie bag for ½ off and some slippers for my DS. Cheryl bought some stuff also but now I can’t remember what it was.

When it was almost time for us to meet the others, we left and walked back to the restaurant. When we got there we saw some people in a group waiting around and sure enough it was our group. We did some introductions and realized we were still waiting for Tammy (sewfunMN) and her soon to be DH. When they arrived we checked in and were seated really quickly.

all of their names but they were all so well behaved. I was very impressed.

The waitress put us at one LONG table and one round table so it wasn’t the best situation for talking to everyone but it was fun talking to the people who were right by you. I sat by Tammy, Cheryl Larson, and across from Sara Froehlich. I felt bad because all the kids got put at the round table and all the adults were at the long table so the kids just did their own thing the whole time we were there. They were so well behaved though. I kept watching them thinking my kids would have bugged me a dozen times in the approx. 2 hours we sat there. They were amazing.

Sara and I had the crab cakes. They were VERY yummy. They were accompanied by coleslaw that wasn’t like any coleslaw I have ever had. It was REALLY good though. It was kind of sweet and the sauce was clear, not milky like regular coleslaw. We all chit chatted and ate for quite some time. The waitress was a little slow, well a lot slow but I don’t think anyone minded too much. The bad part was that since we were such a big group they added the tip into everyone’s separate checks. She definitely didn’t deserve 18%.

Although I was tempted to keep it, we did a raffle for Wendy’s banner and Cindy won! She seemed really happy to get it. Tammy also showed us a denim jacket she was making with Disney characters on it. It was soooo cute!

When it was time to leave, Cheryl and I happened to park on the same level in the parking garage so we walked out together.

I had a really nice time but next year, I think we should do it at a quieter restaurant or at someone’s house so we can all actually visit and get to know each other. I know some people had to travel quite a distance to be at the Mall of America but maybe next year we can do it closer to someone else and I will be the one that drives. I also think most of us agreed it was much easier to get together in November rather than December.

That is all I remember. Maybe someone else will have more information as to what went on at the other end of the table.
