Expanding Messages
By Michael Boyer - 1/24/2002

"It will take me forever to open each one individually"

This recent comment reminds me of a very import TIP which hasn't been mentioned recently, which could make the lives of everyone who browses messages on the Yahoo site a little easier.

THERE IS AN EXPANDED MODE!! which displays the complete text of the posts "inline" without having to open each post individually. When you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheMouseForLess/messages simply click on the "Expand Messages" on the upper-left just above the dark blue message header and Voila! watch what happens!! This is a much faster way of sequentially reading a large group of posts without having to open each one individually.

AND

if you want to see more than the 30 default messages you normally see at a time, you can add the following to the URL/Address in your browser's address bar:

?viscount=100

so your URL/Address would look something like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheMouseForLess/messages/44671?viscount=100

or

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheMouseForLess/messages/44671?viscount=100&expand=1 if you want 100 expanded messages displayed at a time. AND I know what everyone is now thinking "Can I display even more than 100 at a time?" NO, I tried it, and it stops at 100, shucks!

BTW, the 44671 represents the starting message number to be displayed and could be any legitimate number.

Many thanks to Stacy for teaching me the "viscount" trick, just a few days ago!
