PUSH the Talking Trashcan no longer is greeting guests in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.
A special exhibit and show will take place at Innoventions West called “Science Thrills Live” which is presented by Raytheon (sponsor of Sum of All Thrills). During the presentation, guests will get to participate in science experiments such as nucleation-triggered eruption (explode soda), conservation of angular momentum (compete head to head against each other in a giant tug of war), thermoplastic recycling (melt milk jugs), and more. It will take place Feb. 17th – 21st and showtimes are at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Anna and Elsa from Frozen will continue meeting guests for an indefinite amount of time. There is currently no end date. Guests may meet the sisters in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot.
Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade will be ending it’s 12 year run at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The reason behind the closure is due to construction taking place in the park.
Speaking of parades, this week, Disney announced the line up for the new Magic Kingdom afternoon parade called Disney Festival of Fantasy. The floats are: The Princess Garden Float: the lead off float is a celebration of Disney Princesses and their Princes, including, Belle and Beast, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Tiana and Prince Naveen, and as a late addition, Elsa and Anna from Frozen. This float is accompanied by the Royal Court Swan Couples. The Tangled Float: This float is nearly three stories and high features Rapunzel, Flynn, Maximus, as well as some Tavern Thugs who will be there to cause some trouble, swinging around the float. Floral Maidens will also join the procession. The Little Mermaid Float: Here we’ll see Ariel accompanied by not only Sebastian and Flounder, but also beautiful performers dressed as seahorses, coral fish, a lion fish, a seashell and more. The Peter Pan Float: The Jolly Roger is here with Peter Pan and Wendy as well as a rainbow arch that shines over Skull Rock and Tinker Bell found among giant flowers. In addition, Captain Hook takes center stage on a swinging anchor. Also along for the ride will be The Lost Boys who’s performance will be reminiscent of Newsies. The Brave Float: Four Scottish couples will welcome this float, which features Merida atop a giant bagpipe. The Sleeping Beauty Float: This float sees the heroic Prince Phillip battles a Steampunk-inspired Dragon as the wicked Maleficent. The unit will also include thorn-inspired stilt performers, dramatic raven dancers, plus the three good fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather glide along the parade route. The Finale and Mickey’s Airship Float: This cavalcade is set up to celebrate the fact that the circus in in town – Storybook Circus to be exact. The final float features Mickey and Minnie aboard a 32 foot airship. For more info and to see the costumes that will be seen during the parade, check out this post.
At Disney’s Polynesian Resort, the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House will see refurbishment work from March 1 until sometime in December 2014. The Volcano Pool will see a refurbishment from sometime in August until some point in 2015. Finally, the quick service dining location, Captain Cook’s will close sometime in March and will reopen sometime in June. A replacement dining option will be available for guests.
