To celebrate this Monsterous Summer, Disney will be doing quite a few things to honor the upcoming Monsters University. First, on the monorail line, a new wrap has been added themed after the movie. Also, at Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, new jokes will be told themed after their alma mater. Finally, a new Monsters University meet and greet will be available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the Student Union as a background.
Disney will be holding another 24 hour event. On May 24 – 25, from 6 am – 6 am. During the day, Mike and Sulley will be the grand marshal for the afternoon parade. They will also make appearances in Tomorrowland. Extra live entertainment will be available where characters can be found in their pajamas in Town Square. There will be late night dance parties in the Cinderella Castle courtyard. (An event will also take place in Disneyland Resort at both Disneyland and DCA.
A brand new parade is coming to the Magic Kingdom! This new parade is going to be called Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and will be focused on featuring floats themed around the New Fantasyland. It will feature stories from Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, the Little Mermaid, Tangled, Brave and more. It will feature new floats, vibrant costumes, and an original soundtrack which features both classic Disney songs mixed with a new parade theme song.
This week’s Limited Time Magic event will take place on May 4 and will revolve around Star Wars, in an event called May the Fourth Be With You. This event will allow adults, for the first time ever, to participate in the Jedi Training Academy. In addition, characters may be found riding Star Tours. Plus characters will be able to be found meeting guests in the park. A dance party will take place with Lobat serving as DJ. Limited edition merchandise will also be available for purchase. Finally, a special fireworks show will take place that evening.
A new runDisney 10k has been added to the docket. In 2014, during the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, a brand new 10k will take place. For those who want to complete both the 10k and the Half, it will serve as the Glass Slipper Challenge, which will earn runners an additional challenge medal. There will also be a coast to coast challenge that will take place for guests who run both the Princess Half and the Tinker Bell Half will receive a special challenge medal. The Princess Half Weekend takes place February 20-23, 2014.
