What a Day!

I was not lucky enough to make it down to Walt Disney World today for its 40th birthday but I was able to observe the birthday from afar.  Today is such and exciting age that we live where we are able to see things as they happen in so many different ways.  I use technology to be a part of things today that a few years ago would have been impossible to be a part of.  I don’t know if any of you use Twitter or Facebook or any of the various social network tools but I do and I have found that it allows me to go places and see things that I want to be a part of.  Today I used these social networking tools to hear from people that were in Walt Disney World today and even though I was not there I in most cases felt as I though I was.

Disney does know how to throw a birthday and have thrown many large ones in the past but today seemed to be more about enjoying the things that makes Walt Disney World great.  Most of the things that I saw and heard were just about going back to see the things that makes Walt Disney World great like the sights, sounds, smells and places that allow us to relive the magic of visits past.  There were some special presentations and shows but in all reality today brought out large crowds of people who just wanted to be in the place that has brought them so much happiness.  From having a lunch at your favorite spot to ending your day with a Wishes fireworks show, these are things that matter most to us that visit.  I know that may sound simple or cheesy but isn’t your birthday sometimes about being with people that we love or having things that we enjoy.  Today Walt Disney World allowed us to celebrate their birthday in our own ways and we should thank them for being so unselfish.

In the end even though I was over thousands of miles away I was able to celebrate Walt Disney World’s birthday in my own way as well.  I looked through some pictures and watched some live video feeds and in my own way felt as though I was a part of the action.  I was thrilled that today and the technology of today’s world allowed me to be a part of this but I think that even without it I would have been anyway.  Walt Disney World is all about taking those memories and things that we love with us all day, everyday anyway.  So Happy Birthday Walt Disney World, you look great at 40 and I can only thank you for what you have given to me and my family and I know that you will continue to do so.  Make sure you save me a piece of cake for next time.
