I have recently had the opportunity to eat dinner at Ariel’s Grotto in Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure. The dinner is part of a package that includes a ticket to the preferred viewing area for the World of Color show.
We had selected to be seated inside the restaurant although outside seating is available. The restaurant is decorated to look like you are dining under the sea.
After being seated, we were served warm sourdough bread from the Boudin Bakery also at Paradise Pier.
Appetizer is served family style and consists of your choice of Cured Meats and Shellfish or Grilled Vegetables and Cheeses. We had the Grilled Vegetables and Cheeses. On the plates were Manchego Cheese, Marinated Olives, Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Marinated Peppers, Artichoke Hearts, Zucchini, Eggplant, Asparagus and Endive Cups with Apples, Walnuts, Cranberries and Blue Cheese. The Cured Meats and Shellfish includes: Prosciutto, Chorizo, Bilbao, Marinated Olives, Tomatoes, Manchego Cheese, Sautéed Clams and Shrimp in a Wasabi Vinaigrette.
Both options are also served with a salad of mixed greens in a Citrus-Tarragon Vinaigrette.
For the entrée course, you select from six different offerings. They are: Tri-tip, Fillet of Redfish, Spinach and Ricotta Agnolotti, Herb Crusted Chicken Breast, Maflade Pasta with Italian Sausage or Cioppino. I have had the tri-tip on both visits and tasted the Mafalda Pasta. I definitely recommend the beef. It is delicious.
Dessert is served to the table family style and includes: Chocolate Molten Cake, Tiramisu in Chocolate Cups, Passion Fruit Quenelles, Green Apple Mousse in a Cone, French Macaroons, Chocolate Ganache Crunch Triangles, a World of Color White Chocolate Film Strip and Mixed Berries.
With your final bill you are given your FastPasses that give you admission to the preferred viewing location for the show. You receive one FastPass per person. The preferred viewing area is front and center to the show.
If you don’t know about the show, it is a water, lights, and animation show that takes place on Paradise Bay.
Dinner is a set price of $36.99 per adult and $20.99 per child (3-9). With that you get appetizer, entrée and dessert plus your ticket to the preferred viewing area. The price doesn’t include gratuity or tax. There is a similar package offered at Wine Country Trattoria with a different menu and price.
Reservations are required for the show. At the time you make your reservation you will specify inside or outside seating. Like all Disneyland Dining Reservations, they can be made 60 days in advance by calling 714-781-DINE.
