We visited Whispering Canyon last week with a group of 6 people. We all got the canyon skillet and we thoroughly enjoyed the food particularly the endless ribs! The 16 year old teenage boy in our party probably ate enough for all of the group put together! We also had an 11 year old picky eater who managed to find several things that she enjoyed eating. Whispering Canyon is known for the rowdy and silly fun of the wild west. We were seated in a back corner kind of apart from most of the fun, but we still had a little bit of silliness as our food was delivered. If you do not want to partake in the activities Whispering Canyon now has a card on the table that can be flipped over to indicate that you do not want to participate. Overall we had a great experience and would certainly go again. Just make sure you come prepared to eat a LOT!

We at at Whispering Canyon Cafe with a big group. (40+ people) We had a great time! The restaurant handled our group so well. The service was very good and we had a great time with all the antics.

The skillet was a big hit! The apple vinaigrette salad dressing is great. The pulled pork, brisket and potatoes were really good too. Don’t miss the bottomless milkshake and make sure you ask for a “large” drink. ;)

    When: Sept 9-12, 2009

What: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, We had all 3 meals at random times tho we always had breakfast there. DELICIOUS food and wonderful times and spectacular service. LOVED it. Wish I could get the recipe for that smores cheesecake.
Approximate Price of Entrees: 25.00 each

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5 for the pulled pork, 5 for my steak tho my husbands steak seemed a lesser quality, 3, 5 for desserts. 2 on the biscuits n gravy. 4 on the french toast.
    Service: 5

    What: Dinner:
-Southwestern Chicken Soup – creamy, spicy (but not too spicy) with chicken, corn and potatoes ($6.99)
-Grilled Rib Eye with mashed potatoes and season vegetables ($25.99)
-S’more Cheesecake – New York style cheesecake on a graham cracker crust topped with chocolate ganache and marshmallows ($5.49)
-Northwest Sunset – Mixed drink ($7.25)
    -Soda ($2.29)

Approximate Price of Entrees: $52.73 (Dining Plan but had to cover the soup and drink)

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)

Food: 5 – steak was cooked perfectly
Service: 5 – server actually sat down to talk before taking order. Was not rushed even though they were very busy at the time.

Atmosphere: 5 – lots going on!!!! Have to be there to believe it

Okay for Children: YES YES YES YES YES – There are “events” for the kids throughout the dinner. Do not expect them to be sitting through their dinner. ASK FOR KETCHUP!
Okay for Couples: Yes – Its a fun place to be.

Be Sure to Try: ask for ketchup.

General tips: Try to sit in the main dining area. There is a little area with about 5 tables towards the rear of the resturant but you really dont feel part of the group sitting there ESPECIALLY if you have children. It is worth the little extra wait if you have to.

Extra Comments: I wore a “Universal Studios Florida” shirt….what fun that was :)

What: lunch/ dinner – 3 adults and 1 child (9) had Skillet, all you can eat; 1 child had nacho platter, 1 adult had chicken salad (I believe it was Caesar); 3 beers, 1 wine, 2 sodas, birthday cake from bakery

Approximate Price of Entrees: I don’t have the slip, but I believe the Skillet (adult) was 14.95, child 7.39; don’t know nacho or salad prices, or the drink prices; total approx $114 (plus tip) Worth every penny.

    Okay for Children: yes, definitely!
Okay for Couples: yes, but most fun for a group — have your sense of humor with you!

Be Sure to Try: The Skillet (all you can eat) was FABULOUS. It included chicken, sausage, barbq ribs, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, pulled pork, and cornbread. Awesome. DIL loved her salad, granddaughter loved her nachos — they both sampled a little from the skillet, and raved!

General tips: I was surprised to be able to secure a reservation only a week out from our trip arrival. They ring a dinner bell (triangle) when you can enter the dining room (screaming “Come and GET IT!!) LOL!, we almost missed them calling our name. Stay close to the dining room if you arrive at noon. We were sightseeing the lobby and didn’t hear them call our name. Still, we were seated promptly, and I was surprised to see the dining room only about half full.

TheMouseForLess tips: The skillet, all you can eat, was awesome. They refilled as needed. The wait staff was phenomenal, and hysterical. Surprise yourself and the kids with the shenanigans that go on. Be prepared to go along with what ever happens, all good clean fun. We had a birthday girl in our group, and grandparents and parents were instructed to ride stick ponies around the dining room singing happy birthday to her. Imagine Grandma, Grandpa, Mom and Dad totally humiliating them selves doing this, and LOVING every minute of it! That was just ONE of the shenanigans that went on! Way too much fun. A definite DO NOT MISS!!! We didn’t need to eat again for 24 hours! The nacho plate was large, as was the salad. Our waitress was Debbie, and she was just great. We’re still chuckle-ing!

Extra Comments: We had a car so it was easy getting there, but if you didn’t have a car you’d need to plan extra time for bus, boat transportation, and wait times for each………or I guess you could take a cab. We’ve been wanting to do this restaurant for several years, but just hadn’t been able to get there. We were not disappointed. We all agreed we’d do this place again in a heartbeat. The ribs were wonderful………..but then everything was! A definite 10 on our list!

Be Sure to Try: The skillet is the best deal if you are really hungry.

Extra Comments: Was a fun place for everyone. Kids loved it, and so did the adults.

    What: Dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: Pork Chops (17.99), Roasted Chicken (16.99), 2 Salads (9.98), 2 Cokes (4.38), Chicken Fingers Children’s meal (6.99), Happiest Celebration Dessert (5.29), Chocolate Moose Stampede (4.99)É. $80+Éincluding tax and tip. We were on the Dining Plan.

Okay for Children: Yes. My daughter still talks about it. “That shouldn’t be called ‘Whispering Canyon’!” She loved the pony races!
Okay for Couples: If you are there for the fun!

Be Sure to Try: Happiest Celebration on Earth dessert was a great treat in our room. The food portions were large. The “Skillets” looked terrific, too.

General tips: It is a fun, playful place. We probably did not need ADR’s.

TheMouseForLess tips: I can’t say enough about the Dining Plan. We are a family that prefers sitting to eat, rather then eating on the run. The Dining Plan is the only way to go in this case!

Extra Comments: The waitress was particularly good. She realized we weren’t into the teasing, etc, that goes on, so she was sedate. It was our first night and had been up since about 3am to catch a flight, so we were pretty tired. I regret not going a second time to really get to enjoy the atmosphere.
