Review – Smokejumpers Grill, Grizzly Peak (this used to be called Taste Pilot’s Grill)
    Who: Valcarce Family

    Where: California Adventure
    When: April 1st, 2015

    What: Lunch
Items ordered: Karl Strauss IPA, Grilled Chicken sandwich with Fries, Chicken Salad with Italian dressing, chocolate chip cookie, small bottle of water, chicken nuggets with carrots and apple slices, sangria
    Cost: $48.12

    Rate the following: 4
Food: 4 – very large salad; I couldn’t finish it. Could have done without the fried wonton strips
Service: 5 – get there at 11:00am – no line – plenty of tables

    Atmosphere: 4
Okay for Children: Casual place – if kids like planes and/or firefighters that’s a plus
Okay for Couples: Not very romantic and crawling with kids.

Be Sure to Try: The chocolate chip cookie was big enough for the three of us to share.

I like how there’s a easy do it yourself menu that you can use to place your order. There’s also a condiments bar. The hamburgers are pretty good here at this place!
My tip is go early before lunch time because it get’s crowded fast.

Eat here!!! The food is really good. This the only place in California Adventure that I eat at. I used to eat at Corn Dog Castle as well but that closed down apparently.

I always the BBQ chicken sandwhich and my fiance usually gets the chilli burger. With that and our two milks our order comes out to around 25 bucks (which isnt that bad for theme park food). Obiously if you have more than two people the price will be higher.

  1. My husband and I ate here during our trip- I dont really remember what we had…BUT we did have fries with our order and we found a sauce over by the condiments….it was AMAZING!! I am still thinking about it!! It was a sort of thousand island dressing but WAY BETTER!! I was wondering if there was a recipe available???? I have tried to duplicate it but with no luck!! Can someone please send me the recipe if available!!! I would greatly appreciate it!!

Pretty good. Ordered the Wile Blue Yonder burger. The fries were your standard frozen french fry. Finding a seat was a joke. But overall pleased.

Be Sure to Try: Salad was great. Ribs juicy and flavorable. Burgers are huge.

General tips: Ask about substitutions for fries that is not listed on the menu. Fruit was available.

What: dinner – 32 oz AP Lemonade, Bleu Burger with fries, Bottle of water, Grilled chicken with fries, 2 chicken salads with choice of dressing, cheeseburger with fries, unsweetened iced tea, kid’s milk, orange juice, sprite, and a toddler meal – 2 oz. of mac and cheese and 4 oz. of applesauce.

fast service and the woman taking our order knew the portion size of the toddler meal

    Atmosphere:

Be Sure to Try: My husband loved the Bleu Cheese burger

General tips: These tables, unlike many in Disneyland, are not bolted down. We moved two tables together for our large-ish party.

Extra Comments: Nice fixings bar – pickles, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, barbecue sauce, and ketchup

What: Early Dinner – Wild Bleu Younger Burger, Aer-O-Space Onion Rings and a Karl Strauss Handcrafted Bear

    Price: $18.87 (with AP discount)

there were a lot of families there.

Be Sure to Try: The onion rings, they were REALLY good. Arguably the best I’ve had in a while. Make sure you ask for a side of ranch.

General tips: Inside sitting can be a little crowded but there is plenty of room outside.

The Mouse For Less Tip: The Wild Bleu Younger Burger is not something that I would order again. They put a lot of A-1 sauce on the burger. Im a fan of A-1 as much as the next guy but this burger had WAY to much. I’m not sure what it would be like if I asked for it with out. In my humble opinion A-1 and blue cheese do not go well together. The beer was REALLY good.

What: Lunch We ordered the Bleu burger with fries, a Karl Strauss beer, a huge chocolate chip cookie, a cheeseburger and fries, a kids’ cheeseburger meal and a Sprite.

The onion rings that Grandpa got were outrageous and I almost ate half his serving. Marcel commented that the Karl Strauss beer was very good. The chocolate chip cookie was big enough for 3 of us to share. (2 adults and 1 preschooler.)

Be Sure to Try: onion rings! Wish I ordered them!

General tips: The burgers are flamed broiled and quite tasty. The kids’ meal comes with a beverage.

Extra Comments: We went around 1PM and only waited 10 minutes for our food to be ready.

Dont miss the ride right next door, Soain’ Over California! This is the real reason we ate here – we had Fast Passes for Soarin’ and didn’t want to wander too far away. Really good burgers and onion rings, and high quality beer.

What: Blue Cheese Burger combo, Chicken sandwich (fried)

General tips: Eat somewhere else. The burger was awful. I do not know what was in there, but it was the worse. We ate burgers the day before in Tomorrowland, and those were really good. This was….terrible.

What: 2 cheddar burgers, fries, onion rings and a soda

    Approximate Price of Entrees: $25

Okay for Children: Yes, they would probably appreciate the airplane hanger look

    Okay for Couples: Yes

Be Sure to Try: The onion rings were the best I’ve ever had.

General tips: It can get noisy inside but there is outside seating with some shade.

Extra Comments: service is slow, but the portions are big. the only thing is I was upset at having to pay $8.00 for the worst hamburger i’ve ever eaten. It looked and tasted like some weird meat product. I expected better at disneyland.

What: Lunch. 5 Rib Meal (came with cole slaw and fries), Salad with Chicken Poppers, Kids Sliders (mimi burgers with smiley fries and drink), Soda

Approximate Price of Entrees: 5 Rib Meal $13; Salad with Chicken Poppers $8; Kids Meal $6; Soda $2.50

Be Sure to Try: All of it was great! The ribs were juicy, fries crisp and slaw tasty. The salad had a few crunchy tortilla strips, cucumbers, tomatoes, grated cheese and topped with several fried chicken poppers. I saw people adding some items from the large condiment bar to their salads. Kids meal served in a mimi lunch box.

General tips: Quick serve where you order and pay, walk forward to the food line and pick it up there. There is inside and outside seating.

Mouseforless Tip: The four of us shared all the food. The 5 rib meal is really big. The kids ate the chicken poppers off the salad (I was after the salad and I didn’t really want them and it was cheaper than getting them an order of the chicken poppers that they wanted). I ended up eating one of the sliders and it was tasty (I put stuff of it from the topping bar). 10% discount with my annual pass.

Extra Comments: This is a favorite of ours at DCA. Always good and filling.

What: Lunch. 1 rib meal+drink for DH , I had a cheeseburger meal and chocolate shake, DD had popcorn chicken co-pilot meal (4.95)

Approximate Price of Entrees: 16.00 for DH w/drink,12.00 for me w/ shake, 6.50 for DD. Total came out to 33.75, then we used our Disney club discount and got 10%off = $30.00 total

it seems pricey but the portions are HUGE

my Dh is a airplane nut and he loved the theme, plus it is nice and cool inside with a generous condiment bar w/ tomatoes, lettuce pickles and lots of sauces.

Okay for Children: Yes..DD loves it!
Okay for Couples: Yes, there is a patio in the back that is more secluded.

Be Sure to Try: The ribs. My husband got these. They come with coleslaw, and a big helping of fries. Plus, DH is a rib-madman and they were huge with tons of meat that fell off the bone. I had the cheeseburger, which also came w/ fries and is VERY filling. We were so full from this lunch we didn’t need dinner.

General tips: This is a great place that is busy but not packed. It is right next to Soarin’ Over California..so it is a nice stop after the ride. The portions are huge, so share a meal if you aren’t super hungry.

Dollarless tips: Definately use your Disney Club Card! I was given the discount just for mentioning it.

Extra Comments: We love this place, and we have never gotten bad service. The staff is always more than accomodating. My DH asked someone cleaning the tables if they had hand wipes for the ribs, and he said yes…and came back a minute later with a huge handful. Very nice!

Be Sure to Try: nothing comes to mind

    Dollarless tips:

Extra Comments: it was close to soarin over california. It seemed like every line was super slow in here, and it wasnt even the busy season.
