My daughters and I stayed here in January 2011. This was a return trip for us to the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. It is by far my favorite moderate resort. I love the manor buildings and there just doesn’t seem to be a “bad” room. With the river running throughout, there is a sense of calm here that I haven’t found at any other resort. Even at this very crowded time (Christmas week through New Year), the bus transportation was efficient. Breakfast time did get a bit crowded but it was expected. I recommend this resort to everyone especially those that need space for five!

Date Of Stay: We’ve stayed at Riverside two years running (with a third coming up in two weeks) – March/April 2009 and 2010.

Rate Paid During Your Stay: Sorry, can’t remember how the package was broken out.

Room Sleeps: 5 (in Alligator Bayou only) with the 2 beds and a trundle.

Don’t Miss: “Build your own pasta” in the Riverside food court. Fantastic quality and easily large enough for two adults to share.

Room Location Suggestion: 14, 15 or 18 in Alligator Bayou, Magnolia Terrace on the mansion side. We stayed in building 27 our first year and it was great for getting to the pool and main building, but less great getting to the bus stop. It’s worth asking/waiting for a room in one of the closer buildings, or paying extra for a “Preferred” room.

The Mouse For Less Tip: We always take an afternoon break by the pool and have dinner before heading back to the parks. One day last year we wanted to save time, so I headed to the food court, picked up dinner for everyone, and we ate at a table near one of the quiet pools. The kids loved it, and it saved them some walking.

Comments: As someone else has said, these rooms desperately need a refurb, especially in the bathrooms. On our first visit, we realized that one of the boards supporting our bed was broken, causing the mattress to sag. Mousekeeping has also been disappointing – we’ve never had a towel animal (although they do pose the kids’ stuffed animals) – and the room hasn’t always been the cleanest. We found some clothing the previous guests had left behind. We love the pool, playground, and food court, though.

  1. Date of Stay Feb 22-Feb 27 2011.There were 6 of us.
Every person that we meet that worked there was so friendly and helpful. We needed to get 1 of the kids new meds. We were told where to get it and that they would deliver it to us.
We had 2 connecting rooms 1725 and 1726.Nice clean rooms except the coffee maker was dusty and dirty. 1 day I noticed that the tub hadn’t been washed out from the day before. We enjoyed the foodcourt. It had great choices and low prices. The grounds were beautiful. We loved just walking around. We bought several things at the store.Lots to choose from.
We will stay here again next year.

    Date of Stay: Sept 19-Sept 30, 2008

Rate paid during stay: We had free dining for 11 days and paid $139/night…2 Adults & 2 Kids under 5.

    Room Sleeps: 5… 2 Double beds & a trundle bed for a 3rd person

Don’t miss: Taking a boat rtide to sister resort POFQ or DtD for the evening. You can see the Treehouse Villas.

Room Location: We stayed in Parterre Place…we requested it with connecting rooms to my partents. We have stayed in this mansion before and lopved it. We like the quietness and the quiet pool is next to it with the Laundry area…in case you want to do laundry.

The Mouse for Less tip: Enjoy the resort walk around…Visit POFQ for Beingets…Take a boat ride…Share meals if not too hungry*(they are big) We would get 1 kids meal for the girls(2) to share & then they would have some of mine.

Comments: We love this resort…next time we are trying a new one but we will definately will be back in the near future.

**Rooms are starting to look worn so a refurb is in order. That is why I gave the resort a lower star on Quality.**

Date Of Stay: September 20-27, 2008

Rate Paid During Your Stay: To be honest I didn’t break it down – got package thru Laura at TMFL travel.

Room Sleeps: 5 – was in Alligator Bayou and there as trundle bed under one bed.

Don’t Miss: I would say the atmosphere although it can be a negative as well – in Alligator Bayou section there were many quiet places where you could relax and forget about the noise and bustle of the park – great to recharge the batteries.

Room Location Suggestion: 2529 -not a bad walk to the west depot bus stop but a bit long of a hike to the food court/lobby. first floor and away from pool so nice and quiet. my only complaint was trying to find it first day was bit of a challenge. several places where i had to “guess” at which way to turn as there wasn’t a signpost. second day i learned which door of food court to exit from and trip was shorter and better marked. Personally would prefer to use POFQ next time but to get free dining i needed to use POR.

Comments: Room was clean – a little wear at one edge of carpet. Maid service was very good – didn’t get towel animals per se but each day the bathmat and a washcloth was folded into something – a flower, a butterfly, bird face, a shirt and tie (long one). Couldn’t help but wonder if they were going this route because it wasn’t something you could take home – think of the cost of towels if only a small percentage of those towel animals left :-) Did come home one day to find my sorcerer mickey watching tv with remote in his hand :-)

Bus service was good for the most part -but did have 2 longer than should have been waits – once around 5 p.m. When I waited over 30 minutes for a GHS bus to go to dinner – and 2-3 buses for every other park came and went; and on Friday when after an hour wait (from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm) waiting for a downtown Disney bus that never came. I gave up at that point – don’t know if or when it did come.

Only other issue was kind of personal to me – mattress was not bad or anything but it was a pillow top type of style and i never do well with them so didn’t sleep super well.

Something really different – on Sunday morning as i was heading to food court for breakfast I was about to go around a curve near the water and I heard this running sound – a lot of little feet. Turned the corner and coming toward me were 4-5 otters chasing hard after the ducks and other birds. Now otters may be playful looking in the water but out of the water they are pretty rodent like and the only rodent that does not bother me is one named Mickey. A part of me was fascinated to see the scene and a part of me was freaking that they might continue to where I was. Luckily they turned and headed into the water before getting to me.

    Date Of Stay: Sept.7th – Sept. 12th, 2008

Rate Paid During Your Stay: We were able to stay during free dining, and our total package for 5 nights 6 days MYW base tickets was just under $2000

    Room Sleeps: 5

Transportation: We tried the transportation once. We waited a long time for a bus because the nearest bus stop was one of the last stops. We had to stand all the way to MK. It was an EMH night, and the wait back to the resort was just terribly long. Then when we finally got on a bus, we were lucky enough to get a seat, but had sweaty, sticky, exhausted people all around. I didn’t care much to have a sweaty armpit in my face the entire ride back. We have vowed to now drive to and from the parks. It made for a much more comfortable ride for us.

Don’t Miss: You should tour the resort. We didn’t take the time to really roam around, but it was so beautiful in the Alligator Bayou section that I wish we had slowed down a bit.

Room Location Suggestion: I personally don’t see much sense in paying extra for a water view, because I’m sure most of them are a view of a pool. I would think those rooms would have a little more noise. I had requested a room closer to the main building, or a corner room. We were put in the building furthest from the main building, but we were close to our quiet pool and parking. This has become a high priority for us, to be close to parking.

The Mouse For Less Tip: This was the best value for a family of 5. The room was a sufficient size, and the curtained off area with the double sinks made getting ready to head to the parks much easier. It has spoiled us.

Comments: Our children are small enough that this room was a good fit for us. When they get older, we will need 2 rooms to have an entire extra bathroom. But this is a beautiful place to stay. My only area of dissatisfaction is the transportation issue, but was easily solved and we had a great vacation after that!

    Date Of Stay: 9/4 to 9/7, 2008

Rate Paid During Your Stay: $733 total with dining for 3 adults

Room Sleeps: 5 with the 2 nice comfy beds and a trundle.

Don’t Miss: Pools and the boat to DTD.

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in Alligator Bayou bldg 16 and it was nice, quiet, short walk to the food court, pool right in front, lots of shady areas, really pretty.

The Mouse For Less Tip: I thought the food court was a decent value (for Disney food).

Comments: Not our favorite resort, the best beds we’ve slept in by FAR. I kind of miss the overt Disney theme at the values, just that in your face “Disneyness”. Its so opposite of what my daily life is like I guess its exciting every minute!! The moderates I have stayed at ,POR and Caribbean Beach, are much quieter and have much better landscaping, very subtle Disney touches. They are very relaxing. Its hard to compare them and say one is better than the other because they are just different things. I like them both, my favorites being POP and Caribbean, so far. That may change when we eventually bite the bullet and stay at the Poly, but I don’t know.

    Date Of Stay: 12/7 – 12/12/07

Rate Paid During Your Stay: I’m not really sure. I know that Linda Norton from TMFL got us a great deal.

    Room Sleeps: 4.

Don’t Miss: The Lobby is just stunning!

Room Location Suggestion: We were in 8559 and it was a great location. Close to the pool and the bus stop.

The Mouse For Less Tip: Their breakfasts are huge. After the first morning, DH shared his breakfast with DS4 and I shared with DD7.

Comments: When we checked in there was no remote control and no ethernet cable. I called and was told that they were finding a lot of things missing since the Pop Warner kids had checked out that AM. They immediately brought down the remote, but the ethernet cable wasn’t brought until the morning we were leaving. The room wasn’t the cleanest, either. There was mold in the bathroom and a dirty baby spoon under the bed. The spoon was still there when we checked out. I did express this to the front desk when we were leaving and they said “Hmm”. That was it. We never waited LESS than 20 minutes for a bus when we were leaving the park at night. I’m not sure we’d stay there again.
